I'm looking for cheap suspension options to last the winter. I just picked up my 2000 RS last week and the it drives like a boat after auto crossing my 08 STI with KW variant 3's:) I'm planning on converting the RS to a rally car next spring so I'm looking for a very cheap option as the car will eventually get rally suspension. I've got my 08 stock STI suspension laying in a box. Can any part of them be used? Any ideas would be appreciated and remember I'm a noob to all this so please speak in layman's terms. Budget: $200-350..... Thanks in advance.

08 Sti bits are not going to fit an 00 RS
What suspension is on the RS now?
What are you looking to get out of the suspension?
$200-300 is not going to get you much but I'm sure you are aware of that.

^ This is incorrect, but it's true, you can make a GD STI suspension work.
Tapered legacy turbo rear tophats and sprint seats will cost you about $150, the used GD STI suspension will cost you $400-500 (ebay prices). You'll also need camber bolts for the rear to dial out the positive camber, and an alignment. Expect another 100-150 to take care of that.

It still has the stock suspension. I'm looking for better handling as I live on a ridiculously windy road with tons of elevation changes. Maybe I'm being a bit too optimistic in thinking I can do it in that budget. I don't want to spend any more as I'll be putting in $3000 rally suspension on it in the springtime.

I got mine handling great by replacing the wore out shocks and putting on a nice alignment. I put on non-adjustable KYB's.

Finding a used setup with low miles is about the only way your budget will be met. It can be done, just be patient. Lurk rs25 and nasioc for deals. Realistically though just wait 6 months and put your money to better use elsewhere.
