I say each region or section have people pitch in and get a flag since there like 150... I mean say for instince in the south cali region, we only need one when we are at any kind of event, one place to set up camp and for everyone to know where to meet... if you split it up like 5 to 6 people it's not so bad, I don't think each one of use needs a seperate flag, and just assign one person to take care of the flag??

yeah I'm down to pitch in for one, I think each regin needs to take this thread to there own region and see how many people they can get to pitch in, I'm sure in our south cali one we would probably each have to put in 10-15 dollars cuz I'm sure everyone would be down

I'd be all about the Front Range getting one. Don't know that my vote should count, since I won't be in the area and runny any rallyx/autox until late in the year. But I think that would be cool. Be nice if we could get the DI front range group together at some of the bigger Subie meets around here too. Could have the flag flying to let people know why are cars don't look like they're straight out of one of the tuner mags.

RckyMtnLegacy
12-30-2007, 08:22 PM
I would be down for the front range flag. Not too many of us though

wolfman79
12-30-2007, 09:26 PM
We're a small but growing group, plus I think that maybe if we had a flag and some organization at some of the big FR meets like when the pirates get together up at Red Rocks we might get some more folks to join.

Just showing up to events with other members really helps to get the word out. Having a sweatshirt or something helps too ;)

I remember overhearing some people out at the Laughin Rallyx finals saying things like "Oh those are the DirtyImpreza guys. They're crazy..."

I was stoked :guitarist:

wolfman79
12-30-2007, 10:09 PM
Yeah the Pirates crowd can be intimidating and tough to crack for us dirty minded folk. I know there are probably several who would like it over here. But when you've got 150 to 200 cars at a meet and 95% of them look like they belong in a magazine, well some of them have, it can be difficult to find those one or two other people who share your mindset. I know I've been there. Most of them that I have met are really great people; unfortunately IMHO there is a large cliche over there that can be rather immature and close minded.

RckyMtnLegacy
12-30-2007, 10:14 PM
Oh I know this for a fact. Went to a meet at red rock and loved it but did not have the legacy ready yet. Then I posted my pics and got a lot of crap about the two tone paint, and the black hood, and some missed spots, that I don't really worry about when I put color on something that will see dirt. But we will be there in growing numbers to show them we mean business

wolfman79
12-30-2007, 10:19 PM
Exactly, when I get back I'll be more than happy to buy the flag myself just so I can fly it at the meets. Hell maybe I can get my wife to buy it for me while I'm gone... nm that got a headshake and one of those looks that I'm not supposed to be writing about.

Where's the bow down and worship smiley?

I totally love the site my rapidly increasing post count(though non post-whoring) reminds me how much time I actually spend on here. When my bank account starts to love me again then I will happily fork over a large chunk of cash to proudly whore myself and my cars out in the DI name. I truly believe that if we show up to a couple of events proudly waving our DI banner then we will attract new converts to the dirty side.

Jess,

thanks for organizing the Mid-Atlantic flag purchase thread! I have added the link to the beginning of this topic!

To answer your questions, the flag is going to be all black, with brown mudsplatter, and lettering like the DI stickers. (the "DIRTY" will be brown with a white outline so that it pops more off the black blackground, and the IMPREZA part will be all white.

I am working on pricing now. With 4 regions participating, we might be able to get 2 color, 2 sided flags for as little as $80-$90 per region!!!

We are def. gonna need one for the midwest LSPR and all those goodies. But... I don't go to every event mainly just LSPR I could sport one there with a couple people.

409industries
01-09-2008, 01:06 PM
The price will only drop if we order more. I just got an email back from the flag people. I am sending them over my artwork for approval. I had to make some minor changes, but the logo looks exactly the same. Looks sick!!!

Ill keep you all posted!

409industries
01-10-2008, 01:59 PM
OK so the quote is back from the flagmakers. They said the artwork I provided is good to go! Yay for no artwork fees!

Heres the breakdown as I figure it:

4 Regions = 4 Flags

We will all devide this up (setup fee and the cost of 4 flags). The total is $293.02 (without shipping)

Per region, this will cost about $80 (figuring in shipping). Super awesome. Now to figure out how to collect the money to submit the order, we have 14 days on the quote.

Anyone else that wants one for themselves, Let me know! It is way cheaper if we do it now so you don't have to deal with setup fees! I had a few people express interest in this.

I need feedback from people on this! Would everyone across all regions be cool with paying a flat amount based on everyone contributing? If we have at least 5 people from each region, it could cost as little as $15.

POST UP!

Yes, i think i am going to suggest a flat contribution of $20 via paypal to the flag production fund. I agree, there i no need for RM's to have to collect money only to pay again (stupid paypal would steal more of our money that way!)

Here's how to contribute. (It couldn't be any easier!)

Paypal $20 to payment@dirtyimpreza.com.
In the Memo field of your payment be sure to include your DirtyImpreza Forums Username and also which Regional Forum you belong to.
If you are morally against paypal, or don't want to use it for any reason, we can make alternative arrangements (mailed check, etc). Just contact me via PM and we'll make it happen.

Thank you for the faxed, signed proof 1. We will send your order to the printer. Thank you for your business!

While we cannot guarantee exact delivery dates, custom flags generally take 5 to 7 weeks from the time they are sent to the printers.

I would anticipate getting them around April 1st. I will turn around and ship them to the participating regions regional moderators immediately upon arrival.

This is awesome. DI is going to take over the world! At least the Rally world. These are not just representing flags, they are territorial flags. We are staking our land.:muhaha::muhaha::muhaha:

Theyre here!!!

The DI flags are in, and they look AWESOME. The quality of the printing is excellent, and im super stoked that we went with the double sided flags.

http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/hosting/imagehosting/DI_flag.jpg

The brown is really RED though! my colorblind ass approved the proof so we get what we get. I am kinda bummed on that, but when these are flying, i don't think it will be that big of a deal, especially from far away. The proof used a "PMS" scale and this was PMS181. i think PMS161 would have been a better brown, but i just use CMYK colors in photoshop/Illustrator...

Next order of business is... where am i shipping em? I figure blix666 will get the New England one. Lminette might drop by to pickup the Norcal one to take up to Prarie CityI...

Thank you everyone who contributed to making this happen!!!

i built my base according to the measurements you posted in the "flagpole" thread, but it's not large enough.

just looking at waldo's pic though, i can see he went bigger, so it'll prolly work better. i'm not too concerned with the porta-base at the moment, for the rest of my season, i'll be using the gravels...so i'll have my street wheels to hold the pole.

I thought the issue wasn't the base, but too much flex in the flagpole part? Maybe we need to use thicker pipe?

damn its hard to write this without multiple weiner innuendos.

Azewaldo
04-06-2008, 11:23 AM
I made my base with 12" ;) sections, but the problem, as Aaron points out, is that 3/4" PVC isn't made to not flex. I'm sure that my 12' pole  will not stand up  with the weight of the flag and wind.

My plan for now is to tie 3 pieces of cord 8' up and stake them into the ground. That should keep it erect :D

Blix666
04-06-2008, 01:00 PM
i used 1" pvc.

@ 12' with the stack of wheels...it's fine.

@ 12' with a donut and the porta base...it flexed quite a bit, but didn't break, what happens is it flexes over so much, that the weight of the donut isn't enough.

i took a video of it, but i then decided that it wasn't necessary to post, so i deleted it...dammit

WRXCMM
04-07-2008, 10:38 AM
place a piece of #4 rebar inside the pvc and that btch wont budge...structural steel ftmw!!!:headbang:

Blix666

then it's not exactly easy to transport though. would need at least a 6' piece for it to do anything.

04-07-2008, 11:00 AM
how about 2 - 3' pieces of 1/2" threaded emt with a coupling inside 1" pvc...also one thing you guys need to take in consideration is pvc not really good with uv rays it will become really brittle in about 1.5 monts.

i thought of black steel becuase is farely cheap and heavy enough to not tip over

to be brutally honest...i think even 9' is too short. the flag is 2" shy of 3'. which means the bottom of the flag in full wave will only be 6' off the ground....

i'm not trying to bust balls here, just wanna make sure the facts are well known before production starts and money is spent/wasted.

the beauty of the design is we can expand however we want if we need biger legs we'll add more...it's like legos...:headbang:for now i'm making it 9' if need be i'll add more height. you say the flag is about 3 x 5'ish?

I just realized something. Its too bad that Louie and Dave's rallycross is on sunday, because if it was saturday (tomorrow) we would have DI flags flying in 3 locations throughout the US.

Still 3 flags flying over the weekend is super sweet! :headbang:
