As some of you may already know, Hal Denham and Tim Chevalier (rallycat66) are running for
the NER/SCCA Board of Directors for 2008-2009. The rally community needs
strong representation on the board and Hal and Tim have both stepped
forward to try to provide that representation.

This year, there are 8 people running for the five open slots on the
Board of Directors. Bio information on everyone running this year is now
available on the NER Web Site at
http://www.ner.org/region/docs/08BODCandidateBios.pdf

So, Hal and Tim would appreciate the efforts of the Rally community to
help get them elected. Last year, only 200 ballots were cast (out of 3,000
some members in the region), so your vote does count! They also
recommend Rick Hiland as well. Rick's past experience on the Board and
business background makes him a very good choice.

Please note that if you will not be at the annual meeting, you need to
request an absentee ballot. Ballots will not be mailed to all members
this year, so please make the effort to request a ballot as soon as
possible, follow all instructions about filling it in (watch out for
membership number requirements - that caught a bunch of people last
year!), and return it to the secretary well before the meeting.

Absentee ballots will be accepted. Members wishing to vote by
absentee ballot must contact the NER Secretary by telephone
at (860) 875 2220 or by email at kjbarnes22@snet.net or mail at
653 Shenipsit Lake Road, Tolland, CT 06084 no later than
January 2 to request a ballot. Absentee ballots will be mailed to
all current members upon request. Ballots will be distributed
to all other members at the meeting. Five Directors will be
elected. Candidates’ information will be posted on
www.ner.org (http://www.ner.org/) , at the meeting or may be obtained by mail from
the secretary. The candidates are: Tim Chevalier, Hal
Denham, Doug Fisher, Kathy Barnes, Marianne Lyons, Karen
Paul, David White, Rick Hiland.

If you are not currently an SCCA Member, now would be a good time to
become one. Next year, competitors at all events will be required to be
SCCA members. There will be a Weekend Membership program in place which
will cover guests at TSD and RallyX events without an increase in the
member/non-member entry fee split that we have always used, but if you
are on the fence about joining, now would be a good time. Get that
membership in, then vote.

Hal and Tim both thank you in advance for your support!!!

Being the registration nazi I ask that you get your membership before the season starts!

Just to clarify, this doesn't apply if you're in California, since we run under NASA.

Well the original message (that I replied to) was pretty different before you edited it, more along the lines of "if you're gonna compete in rallycrosses next year, you'll need to be an SCCA member". Nobody who's new to the sport is necessarily going to assume that there are different sanctioning bodies, so in that sense it wasn't clear at all.

It also only applies to NE members as that's where Tim Chevalier is from . . . right?

BTW - Tim is a GREAT guy. I met him at Hastings in 2005 - he's a great driver and a true gentleman! We need guys like him on the board!

Best of luck to you!

it is SCCA wide, if it is sanctioned by SCCA, it applies:roll:

Two different discussions about scope going on here... So to clarify...

Hal and I are running for the New England Region, SCCA Board of directors, so its NER/SCCA members that need to vote.

The membership "requirement" for next season is for ALL SCCA events across the country. TSD, Solo, Rallycross, etc will all require that you be an SCCA member next year to compete - however, there is a weekend membership program being implemented to accommodate "guests" and occasional competitors who are not full time members. There was another thread on that subject somewhere.

And thanks for the props Mike!!!
