OK,

I got into Subaru's with my first car, a brilliant red 1997 Subaru Impreza L sedan. That was my first car. I knew NOTHING about it until I started my research. Though that research I stumbled upon the 99-01 2.5rs's. I LOVED the look of the car. The hood scoop and vents caught my stare and the foglights just stared back at me. I wanted one so bad....but money was tight so I waited. Then one day last summer I was traveling down a back alley outside of my town and tradgedy struck. I slammed my front end tow hook into the pavement because i didnt realize that the road dropped a good 8 inches with no warning and then rose back up to the normal road heighthttp://www.rs25.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif, so I couldnt tell that it was there. Any way long story short, the town told me i had no case because I should have taken notice to it. http://www.rs25.com/forums/images/smilies/cussing.gif ahhh I was so upset because i had to part with my beloved first car and such, but then I realized I had the perfect opporutunity to get the RS. well after a few weeks of searching I found my baby. I traded in the L for the RS and got a HELL of a deal on my RS, and the trade value for my car was great being that the frame was bent and the hood didn't line up and the front bumper was 2 inches lower on the driver side than the passenger side. Anyway, onto the RS.

Then...not a day later the modifications started.....

After I did that I reveled in the glory of the RS and didn't really do anything to it because i didnt know where to go with it from there....until I found this WONDERFUL site. Ahhhh now i have an idea of what I can do.... When I realized that I wanted a new exhaust, I wanted a STi exhaust, not only because it looks great but the price was right....it was FREE, so I installed it, with the help of my buddy and his race shop.

Shortly, I ran out of ideas of what to do, so then I wanted to try my hand at a "grounding kit" modification. Now it has been a controversial mod because some say it doesnt do a thing, while some say it does wonders for your electrical system. Well in theory it sonded good, so I decided to give it a shot, and I like the results, the time needed and cost. Easy, cheap, and it makes the car "seem" like it accelerates better and the electrical system is not as stressed so i guess it is a helpful mod.

After it sounded really good on the outside, I decided it was time to make the inside sound good also. Once again, through the forums, I decided I wanted a wrx 6 cd stereo, but after some more research and price comparison, I settled upon the Dual head unit with all the bells and whistles that i wanted....direct ipod control, front a/v jack, and 3 subwoofer output and affordable. i couldn't resist.

With mostly all my friends having lifted jeeps and trucks and what not, they were ragging on me for buying another car, well they shut up real quick when they saw/rode with me through the dirt roads in my area.

Well...after that i decided upon finally getting into autoX and try my hand at it. The AutoX bug has bitten me and I am hooked....

i had all this done, then i got a notice saying that my UPS package containing my headlights was left at the distrubution center and will be delivered tomorow....ahhhh i was so stoked to be putting on these headlights and then i had to put the stock ones back on and wait till tomorow, so till tomorow...
well tomorow became today and they came and i got them installed in 20mins, alot easier than i thought.

the only thing i didnt like was this small, maybe 1/2 inch gap between the fender and the light, but even with this gap, the light is still SECURE and will withstand my rallying abuse, i am sure of it.

Anyways, I have a few things on my Christmas List for my car, including an OEM wrx 20mm rear sway bar and wrx brakes, transmission fluid cooler, and an oil cooler.

ok so a LONG overdue update and many of you know of my following mods already, i just wanna update this to keep it all together so here goes...

so back in January, I came across this classified ad on rs25.com for a rally bar that was custom made, but built strong, well i just had to have it, and I am happy as i could be with and everybody who has seen it has loved it...

then all was goin well, just the occasional romp around the back roads and what not....
but on a periodic oil change I noticed that I had coolant leaking....well the typical head gasket issue reached up and bit me, so into the shop she went...a week later and she was back and it was some snow fun for the rally rocket....

OK so now im gonna start my turbo project history here...
After I decided to go turbo, I was lookin for the best way, and by doing that, I found that just doin a straight swap of a WRX engine into the car was gonna be the "easiest" and well most reliable...
So as of now, I have an 02 WRX motor, TD04 turbo, WRX TMIC, and a merged harness ( did the merging MYSELF)

and for exhaust im doin a different way...
im gettin mostly EBay exhaust components...

thanx to all who love the color as much as i do....its freakin awesome. yes the 4 door just looks more proportional than the 2 door, i think anyways....the STi exhaust sounds awesome, it makes the 2.5 sound a little meaner, throatier and loader, it was overall one of my favorite mods....thank you guys for comments...your all AWESOME....remember, keep em dirty

ok so another month down and yet again..no running car BUT GOOD NEWS!!!! I have a finish line in sight, and I am now announcing it that the car will be done by the end of july yes i said the end of july!!!! I can confirm this because I have a shop doing this...yes i know a shop...which one you may ask...Well it is Area1320 out of Bethlehem PA. I have a drop off date of july 13th and they told me TWO WEEKS and it will be running.... AHH i can see the finish line and i can feel the turbo power beneath my feet. Anyways, I have been doing a few things and adding this and that there. This and that involves 6, yes 6 guages, and a custom rally switchboard panel with 4 flip style switches. I also aquired some new shoes for the beast... well enough talk and on with the pics

If I were you I would start throwing a fit. You are paying them a lot of money, it is understandable for a couple of days or maybe even a week or two beyond what they originally said, but for several months now? Something is up....

I hope you get your car back soon. Try not to rush them. Maybe they are having problems with the wiring and electronics and are just making sure the problems are fixed before handing the car back to you.

well the date that was originally set for me to pick up my car was AUGUST 23...it is now 6 weeks past that.... i was that last friday the car was going to be fired up, but it wasnt because the shop got backed up with other projects..ok, so why is it not the following friday and nothing is done, no call, i was never called once in this whole process, i did all the calling to them, and got short answers mainly sounding like...."we are working on it" no details no description of whats left, and from what i was told three weeks ago, the wiring was done, all that needed to be done was to put it back in the car, reassemble the dash, fill with fluids, and fire it, get the ECU flashed, and deliver the car....so WHATS taking so long, i cant get an answer.... SO IM GETTING PISSED!!!

AREA1320 is doing the work, i thought he was pretty good with his work and tiing, but its been 4 months, and i would go up there but i dont have a car to get there to go look at it, or a car at all so....

ok so just got done talking to ryan and he told me that the middle of next week looks like when it will be done, i was hopin for sat, but the interior needs to be put back in the car and the car needs fired up and ecu flashed and "tuned" so.... but he did tell me that dropping the gas tank to fix the fuel line was a PITA bc THERE WAS SOOO MUCH MUD UP THERE.... i just had to laugh dirtyipreza FTW!!!!

ok so another development in my dilemma...
the shop called me today and i was so excited because i thought it was great news, well i got to excited, but it was too much too soon... the harness that was merged with mine was different than the one that was needed, and that was unknown by anyone, it appears that on an auto harness, there is a 10 guage wire that carries a 14 V load all time, and is used for the starter system, which includes the neutral safety switch, TCU and the brake pedal, well the wire is non exsistent on a manual trans wire harness, but in its place is a 20 guage wire that doesnt carry a 14V source all the time, its only when the vehicle is started, so the shop didnt feel confident in placing that harness with that wire combination in the vehicle and "hope" that that wire doesnt melt from the constant 14V source, so...as of an hour ago, an auto WRX harness is being shipped to the shop to be merged with my RS harness, so from what i was told is the car should be done by this time next week. so again we shall see

well, got another update for you guys...
Me and my buddy made the 2 hr drive last night in the snow and cold!!! anyways, got up to the shop and saw my baby, and boy is it gorgeous looking to see a turbo in the engine bay!!!! Anyways, I saw what was left to do and just the harness needed merged with the proper harness from an AUTO WRX. And an update on that, I just got word that the harness will be at the shop next week, so the car will be done by the first weekend of Dec, so i cant wait.... i have pics from last nite that i will post up in a sec

YES YES YES it is back finally after 10 months of not driving her and 5 months of her not being in my sight, i can now look out my window and see my baby!!!! OK SO here it is tonight after trying to fix the transmission, and an electrical problem...well the electrical problem was fixed via a new battery, and the trans problem, well not fixed, that was after replacing shift solenoid A & B, which were causing a trouble code to be thrown, so they are still throwing an CEL so im gonna have to delv more into the problem, but besides that its running great... ohh and also notice a few other things i threw on...i.e. MUDFLAPS!!!!!

yeah i painted it to match, yeah the 3" exhasut hangs a lil low but im really not "planning" on offroading it as i did before, so... but the nice thing is the exhaust has a "skidbrace" that attaches the can the the pipe to prevent damage to the muffler if perhaps something were to "scrape" against it say a muddy trail...hehehe

Damn its been a while since i updated this... A LOT HAS happened not for my car only but for myself. As some of you may have known I was in Basic Training for the USAF at Lackland AFB San Antonio TX, from March to May. Which was a hell of an experience, wouldn't do it again but it was an "experience" to say the least. But currently I'm in my Tech Training for Structural Apprentice in the USAF. I'm doing my training at Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport MS. Yea I know what your thinking why am i on a Navy Base, well thats the military for ya and their consolidational learning. I have classes with the US Army and US Navy so.... its another great learning and networking experience that I get to enjoy till september.... And if your wondering the Navy base is BORING their is nothing to do here, so ill be updating this frequently and hopefully when I get my car it will be picture updates as well. Anyways enough about me, ill give you guys and update on my baby.....

1) Well I can't remember if i briefed about the transmission being a lil borked up, i.e. no 1st or 4th gear, well thats being fixed by a connection that wasnt made when the swap was being performed.

2) The car is getting the tierods replaced because for some reason (offroading) I managed to bend a tierod???

3) Well thats about it actually, I did get some of the guages hooked up before I left and i do have some vids to upload so I may upload them here later on.

So for now thats all I can think of and what not, so....till the next one....keep it dirty!!!!

I love the way you have the lights lol. It would be kinda cool if you could set it up so when you turn on the fogs the lower lights turn on (on the light bar). Then you can switch just the top 2 lights on (light bar) then you can just have all them on. Just a thought lol. Again love your car :)

would set it up that way but the relay would over heat/overload and they would be on all the time bc i keep my fogs on all the time, trust me i thought bout it but i like my switch panel inside it feels like a rally car sometime hahaha

yea the bar is completly detachable in bout 5 mins, i know bc a cop was astonished about how easily i took it off one night, the fuses and wiring are all on spade connections, so i just undo my convoluted wiring wrap, pull the spade connectors apart, fish the wiring out of the fron grill, unbolt the bar from the bumper bar and radiator support and pack her away it is that simple..........
