wow..i can honestly say they suck in winter and i didn't know that i had summer tires on my car...until about 20 minutes ago when i slid into someones front yard while i was trying to make a lessthan 5 mph turn. Thank god there were no trees and that the guys whos yard i went into was so understanding and kind about it.

hahah! lol.. wait..so u got it?! yes "summer tires" are like a hard compound and dont have much "tread" like a tuner would have.. more designed for like rain and lasting long.. the winter tire is a softer compound and and has more "nubs" i guess you can say.. they dont last as long but u get good traction on ice and snow.. a good all-terain tire is prolly best for all year round use.. and if your looking for great tire prices goto TireRack! www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com) awesome prices and many brands to choose from!

lol should have pulled the e-brake to slide around the corner keeping it on the road haha
here.. get a bunch of sand bags and pile them in your trunk and up front and then your toyota will do alittle better

actually performance summer tires are soft too. they are just deisgned to be soft in different temperature ranges from winter tires.
i've run summer tires in snow and it's scary. all seasons or snow tires make a world of difference.

Except that sliding sideways into a curb/yard is a good way to break stuff or flip the car. If you know you're loosing it, just steer straight into the curb/yard and brake.

prolly not a good idea...unless you wanna destroy your viscous coupling.

Hmm.. dunno about that, if there's no/hardly any friction on the front wheels either then the stress on the centre diff isn't going to be nearly as bad as if you did it on asphalt or whatever. Of course you should be dipping the clutch while you do it anyway. Still not a great idea though.

DEFINITELY wanna dip the clutch...but i still wouldn't risk it...it's definitely not the right thing to do to try to slow down a skid anyways.

I'm in the same boat. I run ultra high performance tires on my subie and she hates the winter with them on. So next month im going to invest in some proper winter tires.

i ran my t1-rs in about 2 inches of snow (in the mountains) never went over 40 and ended up losing momentum on a hill and had to back down. went to my work and bought some snow tires and went back a few days later. felt comfortable at twice the speed. snow tires rule in the snow. suck on pavement though. every time i floor it to get out into a intersection the back end slides a little bit (read: a lot) and every body tells me im number one with their 3rd finger.
holy sh*t i just watched that video. that is the greatest thing ive ever seen.
