So, I recently upgraded my mirrors and noticed today that they seem to have an issue; namely that all the cars I see in them tend to get smaller...

...which leads into my next question: I hear an engine swap will only exacerbate this problem. Since I have plenty of time to plan and save, what do you think is the best option to swap into a double-ought RS? I was thinking of grabbing an engine out of either an '03 WRX, an '06 WRX, or an '02 Outback H6. Either way I'd be upgrading the tranny as well to something with a locking front diff.

Just in the planning stages now, so I wanted to get a feel of what y'all think...

...and... no thoughts?

Having done a few swaps in my day... I'd personally go for one of the WRX engines, just cause I bet it'll be waaaaaay easier. And CHEAPER in the long run. You can get 02 or 03 WRX power trains pretty easy. I dunno anything about H6 swaps though. I just read a huge thread of a guy who swapped the Tribeca H6 into his RS. LOTS of fab work involved. If you're a decent machinist/welder and want something pretty unique though... I say go for it.

If it were me... WRX all the way.

I'm now thinking it'd be a good idea to source a 2.2 closed-deck or a 2.5 semi-closed block and start building up a bottom end.

Once the new subaru engine comes out I should be able to eventually incorporate the new direct-injection heads and ems that come stock with the upcoming impreza.

In the meantime once I get the bottom end built I can just slide it into the current ride for safe-keeping.
