you won't want to go for a bigger turbo as it'll take longer to spool. mods that will help the turbo spool faster will be what you'll want to look into.

for instance, have you replaced your up pipe? a catless up pipe will help get that turbo spooling more quickly. also, a header or grimspeed ported manifolds (i'd probably go with the later of the two) will help to decrease lag. do you have a full turbo back exhaust or just a catback or axleback? if you don't have a turbo back, look into an aftermarket downpipe.

and lastly, more seat time will make a world of difference. techniques such as left foot braking will allow you to keep the car up in it's powerband.

your probably turning in tooo hard...

I have also heard MANY complaints from locals @ auto-x events about the fuel pick in the tank sucking.. If your not above 1/3 tank it will bog HARD on right hand corners..

Also, try getting into 1st gear around slow corners. This is where double clutching comes in handy, as Suby transmissions are difficult to get into 1st while rolling

"granny shifting..not double clutching" lol jk.. that damn movie

+1, or a little Redline Mt-90 (or synchromesh) in the tranny will help you downshift at speed. (just like a quart).

if you NEED to upgrade your turbo, the Blouch 16g turbo spools pretty quick, very efficient.

otherwise, the GrimmSpeed headers and uppipe combo will spool you up a few hundred rpms earlier (and you don't need a protune or anything else, 100% bolt-on)

I want to see the flow charts on this 16g compared to stock td04 and/or t3/t04e

I have only seen flow charts for the "big 16g"

I would say keep your sock turbo for rally X, that will be fine, you really don't leave 1st or 2nd gear and the power you have in those gears is great!

ohhhh....I dunno, flow charts make my head hurt though, I don't know how to read them, haha. I don't have any 16g dyno charts, but I do know a guy that just put up some nice 20g numbers.

here's my dyno on a tuned td04 w/a 2.5L STI shortblock (my line is the green line)
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/2306000-2306999/2306310_21_full.jpg

and here's a 20g with an APS tmic
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x187/playa4142/cory06wrx91.pngSorry about the sizing/scale.....but notice this 20g (!!!) @ 3,000 RPMS is at the same torque as my tdo4.....pretty sweet.

(and yes, I know comparing dyno graphs isn't 100% apples to apples, but even if its off by a little bit, that's still pretty quick spool up!)

so my point is, a 16g will spool up pretty damned quick, especially on a 2.0L.

What about drivetrain upgrades like the flywheel or halfshafts? I'm thinking about putting in the kaaz gearset cause it's getting so hard to downshift to first and second and I know their going to go soon. Anyone know any good susp. upgrades? Are the Rear lats with sperical joints worth it? What sways are good to go with?

which sway bars? LOL...don't get me going. (inside joke...see this thread:

don't go for upgraded gears until you brake something. its not the gears anyway, its the synchros and the transmission fluid that (in general) makes for hard shifting. like I said above, switch out your tranny fluid with some Redline shock proof (or just 75w-90) but include a quart of redline mt-90.

lightweight flywheel and/or lightweight crank pulley are always good upgrades.

I LOVED my sti rear lateral links....on the road. they don't make too much difference on the dirt, but if you have high miles, its good to replace those bushings anyway.

rear diff mount bushings are good to replace, same with all the tranny mounts/bushings too.
