Alright DI peeps.

Last week I alluded to a new shirt design (http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21448) I think that i'm pretty happy with the final layout. Check it out!

Black shirt with white screening.

White shirt with black screening

It's pretty much a parody of the "I <3 NY" shirts that you see in souvenir shops in New York. The few people that i've shown the design to are pretty stoked on it, and it really has a nice ring to it (I love DI). Only last night did I decide to go with some splatter on the heart which makes it more our own.

The back layout may change depending on sponsorship participation, but so far things look very promising as there are several vendors that are already on board with the production run.

My big question now is this:

Do we want to continue the tradition of black shirts with mainly white printing?

Would people want to get White shirts with black printing?

Some other color... id consider doing heather gray / ash gray, etc ?

Please vote in the poll. In the past i have stuck with one color (fabric) shirts because stocking several colors is not only very expensive, but it takes up quite a bit of space too! I'd like to know what you guys think though so now is your chance to help decide what direction we will go.

Thanks for all your support everyone! We should be getting these made very soon!

I'm not sure about the i <3 DI on the front. I think it would be better if the back was on the front and then a small I <3 DI on the back of the shirt towards the top. Defiantly in a manly black with white lettering. I just get the feeling everyone would be like wtf is DI? Just my suggestion;)

i like both but what i dont like about the shirts is the sponsors. i think it looks tacky the front n back design would be good enuff for me. thats just my 2 cents.

I have too many black and white car related shirts.
What about a greyish color? Not the ash gray like the DI wrench shirts...but a creamy gray? I suck at explaining...lemme find an example...

That is kind of the point. If you know what it is... then you're part of the cool kids club. Not only that, if they still can't figure it out after seeing the logo on the back of the shirt, then the concept is wasted on them.

It would be good enough for me too, but i can't finance these projects out of my own pocket. Got a $1000 you can loan me?

PM me next time you do shirts. I manufacture clothing for a living and might be able to help out.

That being said, the I love the DI wrenching shirt, but every time I have put it on, my 8 month old son spits up on it so bad I have to change. So I have to get a new DI shirt soon so I can just change into another DI shirt.

I like the Gray Idea, but I also think the I <3 DI is a bit large. Personal opinion is that I prefer smaller logos in front.

Another thought... have you thought about doing sleveless? summer coming up and all...

I love it. I think the dirty impreza logo should be incorporated on the front somehow, so every ******* in the world won't ask what D.I. is (even though that in itself is brilliant for getting a word of mouth out and strike up conversations)

I generally only wear black shirts, purchased for me by someone else, then weathered for 5 or 6 years (as i explained at cal city), so my vote is black.

HOWEVER, I would not be opposed to a true grey (like the forum BG, maybe a little lighter); not a heather or charcoal, but a solid dye...

Also a fan of the brown option...

Aaron, I think I PM'd you contact info for my silk screener a few months back? If you want it again, let me know he's a great guy to work with and can do American Apparel shirts for smokin deals. (and has the distinct advantage of being a short drive from you).

I like grey or brown. I have too many black shirts & white shirts don't stay white when I'm playing with my dirty impreza. I also like the idea of a smaller logo on the front.

I would prefer a grey shirt, but out here the summer is very hot so a white shirt at a rally x is a very good idea.

I like the black, but I would want grey over black. Not as hot and looks better imo.

Thanks for all the great feedback guys! The shirts have NOT been put into production so minor tweaks may be made based on your feedback.

The DI wrenching shirts are amazing.
Let me explain why:
Over any other shirt I have worn it gets the most comments.
Simply because it has the "support" line on the back.
Other ralliest have commented on how cool that was and I have had random people ask me, "What is a rally team?"

Also, the color of the shirt makes it great for constant use and abuse... like an Impreza. lol But really it allows me to wear it while working on the car or working in the yard. I don't mind if it gets a small hole or small stains as these all add character to the shirt.

I live in Arizona and it gets hot 100-100 degrees hot. This never stops me from enjoying my life outdoors. What does stop me from enjoying my life outdoors is heavy or dark shirts. The DI wrenching shirt is light both color and fabric wise and it makes a great companion for any summer day.

The DI sponsor shirt, the "OG"
I like it. It makes a good bold statement. "I race something"
But most people don't understand it nor do they really care.
It's just another shirt that to the outsiders point of view looks like I bought it from Pac Sun.

It is enjoyable for me to wear at things that are not formal like an outing at the bar or any other time with friends. Because of both the material used and the fact that I think the shirt wouldn't look good dirty I have yet to wear it while doing any type of work such as on the car or in the yard.
I feel like if there was to be a small rip or hole in this shirt I would most likely toss it away.

Now to your new idea
I do like that you will be incorporating sponsors again that are relevant to this site and to members here. Considering most of us eventually buy something from these vendors for our projects it is nice because it makes me feel "sponsored" too. "Hey, Safe Drives... isn't that where you got all your safety gear and fire extinguishers from." I also, like the idea of putting them at the diagonal angle you show it placed. Front or back don’t care… diagonal and adjusted to the side either right or left, I do like.

The “I <3 DI” idea. Personally, I don’t like the JDM scene and nor do I like all the people that have the “Hellaflush” or “I <3 my Subaru” stickers on their car. I actually came from the Honda crowd and I started hating it from there. “I <3 JDM Girls”, “I <3 my Honda” all this stuff is not appealing to me. Call it rice or call it in touch with your feelings, it just isn’t something I like.

The other shirt design looks like the same prior shirt design.

Aaron, I am not being a hater… I respect you for designing these and for running this site of us hooligans. I am just voicing my personal opinion and decided to give you my reviews for the prior shirts.

My “Idea”
Gray(Grey) shirt color. Good for when you sweat and good to hide pit stains.
A shirt that is useable. Meaning I could wear it to a bar, I could wear it to cut down a tree, I could wear it while working on my car and I could even convince my girl to wear it at the gym.

Something that not only is recognizable by enthusiasts but also will spark attention to the general public. Let me list of some random thoughts for taglines now. (Not expecting these to be used exactly but to open up someone’s mind to create one that is useable and sounds good.

“I don’t beat my kid, but I do beat my car.”
“Underneath the mud, there is a shiny blue car.”
“Dirty Impreza: Anti-Car Wash since 1996” (Insert site creation date)
“Dirt is for racing, Tarmac is for getting there” ß I really like this from the stickers.

Everything except for the last one I think aren’t printable but could be modified to use.
Point is, if we have a shirt that can spark interest in other people then it could help our community grow. Most people don’t know what “Dirty Impreza” or “Rally” is let alone an acronym.

Anyways, good luck. I will probably buy it regardless of what it ends up being.

I think we all deal in grease and dirt enough to know that white won't last too long. Plus I'm just retarded and spill coffee and food items on myself daily. So if you could make the shirt light brown with black and dark brown streaks, maybe few red spots ( cause I am human and bleed like everyone else) and lasty dark areas under the arms that mimick sweat stains that would be perfect. Thanks Aaron.

I would go for a tan-ish or green shirt with brown/cream lettering. And do the back design on the front and a smaller front design on the back shoulder (dont center). The tan would be nice to stand out in the sun and it wont show just how dirty the shirt really is, unless you spill oil on it.

I would totally rock that shirt! :headbang:

I want to change my vote to gray/charcoal... I really didn't think of it as an option when i immediately went to vote.

I think the "D" on DI needs to be brown and a little more splattered mud would look great i think

It depends if this falls outside a standard screen dimension. I think i will be paying for an oversized screen print on the back anyway so it can probably go just about anywhere.

I agree with LPPrelude about the wrenching shirts, i live in Florida and most of my shirts are black. Im trying to remedy that cause black sucks in the sun. How feasible is it to get multiple shirt colors instead of limiting it to just one? Maybe do a run with some black some grey some something else... But for sure a lighter material like the wrenching shirts.

We're going to go with Charcoal (solid dark gray) for the first run of these. I will definitely explore the idea of getting other colors if the demand is there. I should have some more storage space for merch soon too.

Stay tuned! I'm hoping to get these into production next week!
