you need a shop to do it, or you need a press. you also need a special too to press it out, its a pita.
buy the bearing and replacement inner seal.

Wheel bearings are a pita for sure, especially if there is rust.
Don't know of any Subaru shops out your way..but many independent shops have the tools, or a press.
If you have any friends/relatives in Bend, we'd be glad to do it for you..We've got the tools too.
How'd Waldport do with all of the flooding? The Alsea levels looked huge online..

flooding was not to bad down here in waldport, it was mostly just the winds. but mud was sufficeint.:D the wheel berring didnt like the sand+mud+h20 combo to much(60.00)ouch

Buy replacement seals and you definitely need a press to do it. My buddy and I did my drivers side wheel bearing on my GD and it was not fun.

If they come apart and go together easy something is wrong. When I did mine I put it back together and still had play in the wheel. The knuckle was worn and needed replaced.

I think the axle nut was either 31 or 32 mm, I can't remember for sure.

can anyone point me in the direction of some upgrade options for wheel bearings? i seem to be runnin' through them pretty quick running the canyon around here a couple times a week. i was thinking maybe wrx gear? i want to swap to the wrx struts anyways, so maybe some struts, hubs, knuckles and all of it swap together? or are the wheel bearings the same diameter?

you shouldn't go through wheel bearings quickly...especially on street tires. Are you installing them yourself? if so you're probably doing it wrong...
My front wheel bearings were fairly easy (as far as wheel bearings go)
