Are there any offroad/dirt specific reasons not to remove my power steering from my 96L? I will also be getting a GD sti rack in the future that i also want to de-power. I am really going for a light weight minimalist build for DD/rallycross and casual autocross. I don't care about "discomfort" but do care about performance and feel.

Links i've dragged up so far:

Well i would strongly suggest keeping power steering....
Think about it.. all rally cars (even WRC ones) do HAVE power steering.
I don't think there is any reason to remove it...
Weight saving is minimal in there....
I think you will be faster driver with power steering when you really need it...
I would suggest getting rid of air condition and ABS (whole system - but then you need to play with brake lines a bit)....

I've wanted to do a manual rack on my car too. But our stock ratios suck, I'd rather get a quick rack first and then decide if manual is truly needed.
