Anyone know how big the speakers in a 99 impreza are? I'm going to replace the fronts but I need to know what size to replace them with.

Should be 5.25 up front and 6.5 in the rear!

Weight reduction is all well and good my friend but if your race car is also a daily it's nice to have some tunes. That is why when mine is a stage car I will remove speakers in prep for the event then reinstall for daily driving.

I'm just giving you guys shiznit ;)

I think it would be a riot to have a fully rally prepped car with a nice sound system.

You could get a bumper sticker that says, "My rally car has a bumpin' sound system" :guitarist:

Did you have to do any cutting?

6.5's came stock in my '93. Or maybe it was 6.25, I dunno. Either will fit... Depth is the only thing you have to worry about, cause the back of the speaker hits the window when it's rolled down if the speaker is too deep.

yeah usually there isnt much differance between the 5.75"-6.5" usually the bigger the easier for install, but then u have to consider the actuall mounting diameter..they are always chancging. and like what blue said if its too deep your window wont roll all the way down, but i dont think you should have problems with that your doors are a little deeper than the 93.

they fit but you have to get a fit kit thing.

i was thinking i could also make a housing that would not only take the speaker away from the window an inch or two, but would also point the speaker towards the person in the seat instead of towards the lower centre console.

in my 99RS 2-door, the rear speakers are 6" speakers. i had to get the speaker brackets cut a bit to allow 6.5" speakers. glad i did too! :)

its tough to find a good 6" speaker...

the fronts are 5.25", which are standard.
