'92 Subaru Loyale Engine Swap?

Ive got a 1992 Loyale and Ive been looking to get into a bigger engine setup. Any tips or things I need to look for that will help me out?

I'm not the guy to be giving any tips but I think you should look into swapping an ej22. A lot more power than your current engine i'm guessing and you can beat on them all day long.

I've looked into this some, it's not easy to mate a EJ engine with an EA transmission unless you have some serious metal fab experience. So plan on a full drivetrain swap otherwize.

SJR makes adapter kits for EJ engine to EA tranny. Not cheap, though.

Hey did you ever do this swap? I have a 92 loyale and dropped a SOHC EJ25 into it last summer.

ultimatesubaru.org has tons of info on it. not as much info if you are doing an obd2 ej swap vs the obd1.

this was the first swap i've ever done. the wiring is the hardest part. but if you take your time and label everything. EVERYTHING. it wont be too bad.

im contemplating putting in a EJ 5 speed and vlsd from a legacySS if i can swing it.

all you need is the adapter plate and the re-drilled flywheel. the hardest part is the wiring loom to be chopped down. otherwise, it's mostly bolt in.

I have an ej22 in my 86 3door coupe, but i also swapped the driveline to convert it from FWD to full time 4wd xt6 trans and 5 lugs.
