So I think it's time to introduce myself and by the way, talk a bit about my project and my past in the subaru world.

But first, I want to say that I'm enthousiast to be a part of this forum. I've never seen so much suby owner driving there car trough the mud/dust/snow and not scares to rally it.

I live in quebec(yes another canadian) 22 years old and it's now my second subaru. The first one was this wrx STi that I had during 2 years and sell in juin 2007.

I've drive it a couple times at track and on dirt road close from my house (and yes theres a lot of them8)) I instantly became a junky of dirt track. But my pockets weren't deep enough to prepare the STi for rally. Then I decided I need another car a little less pricey. I finally found a 2.5rs 2001 auto, yes automatic but the price was good and it was clear in my mind that the car going to get swapped.

The only pics I have of the car in his original shape:lol:

I've done a lot of offroad driving with this car since the STi was still in the driveway and have no money to start modding the GC. I barely break anything relate to the suspension and steering cause I've done too much driving on hard and bumpy roads:twisted:

Finally sell the STi and the day after, start to completely strip the car.

During the summer, I brought the car to a shop who does race prep. car and to a friend for a new paint.

All the interior and engine bay are black (and really dusty on these pics)

And here is the new heart for the beast

 nah I'm joking, here's the new one

motor is standing on the floor for the moment, waiting for some pieces and harness isn't connect

Yes an STi

That's a JDM version 8 STi (2L), almost the same HP as a USDM but 8200 rpm rev limiter, twinscroll turbo, dual avcs with a version 7 tranny (6 speed without DCCD, 5-6 close ratio)

Theres a lot of other parts I have in the garage for the car like 15x7 TD pro rally 1 anthracite from illuminata(thx Paul;)) but I think it's enough for tonight.

So what you think of it?

By the way sorry if my english isn't perfect, my second language.

Bienvenue.. ta voiture est très sympa! (dunno if that works in Quebecois :D )

The 'new heart for the beast' had me really confused for a second :D

So the cage, the full build.. open class stage rally ambitions? You gonna take on L'Estage? 8)

Thanks guys, and yes there's a lot of work and still more to come before the car run but it's going well.

Rollo: yes it works in quebecois;) and I would like to race in open but can't afford this yet since I'm a student at college.
I'll probably do the 08 rallycross season in quebec and try to do the zero at the 2 rally performance in the region.
If I found a job next summer, I'll probably going to do a complete state stage rally season.

That's a JDM version 8 STi (2L),

 Wow, see you did it the way i've always dreamed. JDM STi 2.0 has all the sexy forged internals and can take a GT35R out of the box no problem.

Very impressive build my friend!

I have a whole bunch of friends that live in Montreal and the surrounding areas, I've visited them a few times and traveled through Quebec, its beautiful there.

Think it's time to do some update.

Sorry car isn't running yet guys, I'm waiting after some pieces to finish the mechanical parts. I need the bracket that hold the shifter linkage and cannot put the driving shaft(and rear subframe and diff) cause I think it's going to be to hard to put the bracket in place with the driving shaft installed. Wheels bearing are on the way too. Need them cause I cannot change my rear backing plate for the group N gravel one without removing hub, and I thought that it would be better to change the 4 corner since I am here. So, if it's going well all knuckles and braking systems will be in place next week.

For now, I finally put the dash on(with a bit of help from the Dremel:twisted:) but that wasn't the hardest thing to fit in. The air system have gives me hard time to fit it under the dash. Need to cut a bit to fit it cause the box fit no more with the cage in place.

Here you can see what the box look like at starts
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/boxer2l/P1020370.jpg
note that I'm holding the cut piece over the box

I needed to cut the trap that send air to face but kept the defrost and floor vent.

The box after little mod:

I now have some pressure on my shoulder to push me to finish the project. I'm on the list for the challenge on ice Ixworth(9-10 february), 4 different stages, 2 days of driving on snowy and icy road.
I hope that I will finish in time.

Put my winter wheels/tire on mother car to test them on ice.

The grip on ice are really good. I don't even need to remove ABS fuse when doing lfb on ice, they are really great tires.
Not try them enough yet on snow but from the small patch that I've drive yesterday, grip seems to be good too. Overall it's the best winter tire that I've drive at this time.

About the project, it's going well but not sure it's going to be ready for the challenge on ice(I just can't work on it full time). There is more work left then what I was thinking. For now, almost all mechanical parts are on, need to put the rear suspension/knuckle/brake, after that it will be steering, seat and whats left of the wiring.

More pics to come after the week-end.
