OK, so if you watch TV coverage of pro rally, you'll see the cars go whizzing by little signs/banners stuck into the ground. These seem to indicate things like "start", "finish", "split location", etc. I assume there's also ones for things like Master Time Control, Service Park, etc. Does anyone have a "graphic dictionary" of these kinds of signs and/or any of the other graphics found in rally?

See page 100 of the Rally Car 2011 rulebook.

lots of nuances to those signs as well.....for example, inthe NASArallysport link, the 'end of control zone' has a lot of implications.

you can't work on your car in a 'control zone'...lots of competitors know this. BUT, lets say you're at the start line and the car stalls, or you pop an axle on launch.

You're still in the control zone.

that stupid little sign is about 30 yards ahead of you, and if you want/need to work on the car, you and the co-driver need to hump the car up and past it if you don't want to get a time penalty for illegal service.

THIS is why every says read the rule book. then read it again.

then read it one more time ;)

And here's the FIA rule book on the matter (signs are buried on page 23). This one's from 2007, the 2011 one isn't loading for me right now.
