I have a 95 Impreza L that I did an auto to 5 speed swap on. I got the engine and tranny mated and in the car. Once it was in I noticed that the shift fork was super loose feeling. I am pretty sure that usually they should not really move that easily. I assumed that one of the clips inside came off or something so I yanked out the engine to have a look. I yanked the engine rather than the tranny because there are no fluids yet in the car and I was doing it by myself. So I chose not to wrestle around on my back. With everything out it all looks fine though so I am wondering if I am just totally missing something. When it was all together I never did engage the clutch with the pedal and I am wondering if I had would it have somehow fixed itself. (like once it engaged the clutch) Anybody have any idea whats going on? :pissed:

Oh yeah, and I am not gonna lie guys.... It's awesome being able to tear out your engine without having to jack up the car...

by shift fork, do you mean the shifter handle? a lot the the older cars suffer from excessive shifter movement due to worn out bushings. good replacements can be found at www.turninconcepts.com (http://www.turninconcepts.com)

You probably have worn out/missing shifter bushings. There's a thread in this forum as well as a couple of good threads with step by step instructions in RS25.com.
