Just got done adjusting the valves on the EJ22!

Took my buddy and I 4 hours (including dinner) to get em all done, but holy cow! TORQUE!!!! Seems the job went well, we eliminated the lil bit of valve chatter when it's cold and the motor sounds great! Is there any intrest in a write up? If so, I guess that'd be a DIY maintenance thing, and I'd put it there! :guitarist:

Is the 2.2 a roller rocker or shim over bucket, or what?

If it's a roller rocker, it's pretty easy to do. Shim over bucket (or shimless) isn't really any harder, but it is a bigger PITA due to needing to get the correct shims/buckets if they're out of spec.

If anyone else wants to know how to do it, there's a section on it in the H4SO Engine>Mechanical>Valve Clearance portion of the factory manual.

I don't think a shim over bucket would work very well with a sideways head... that being said, I don't know what they are haha.

I'd like a write up though, my valves tick like crazy in the cold... I've been meaning to do this.

Some of the older turbo EJ engines use them.

Ok, I'll put the thread in DIY Maintenance!
