The Limited Edition Impreza GB270 Released in the UK
British Subaru fans will have to hurry to grab one of 300 Subaru Impreza GB270 saloons or of 100 GB270 Sport Wagons. The very last special edition of the outgoing Impreza will carry £7,000 to £7,600 of additional equipment available at a price, which is only £1,898 and £2,898 more expensive than the standard versions of respective models.
The GB270 means here that Subaru regards WRC Wales Rally GB as its most successful stage in the world rally series and that the cars are equipped with the 270 PS performance pack from Prodrive. With the pack installed, the vehicle’s engine gets power boost by 40 PS and a torque increase by 74 lb-ft to 310 lb-ft.

The performance pack is matched with lowered springs, ‘quickshift’ gear shifter larger-diameter 18x7.5ins GT1 alloy wheels. Special carpet mats, MOMO ‘Air-Race’ gear knob and GB270 badges and interior plaques with each vehicle’s individual number will further increase prospective driver’s self esteem
The Subaru Impreza GB270 will also be equipped with a WRC-style rear spoiler, STI front lip spoiler, stainless-steel mesh front grille and silver-finished alloy wheels.

Jeez.. that's a reach. More glamourous than "the GB270 means that we're trying to shift old stock asap so we can get the new models out into the marketplace" I suppose :D

Damnit all, why can't we get modded wagons? I want a wagon with 310 ft-lbs torque stock! That, and how are they getting 35/30 MPG?

Something seems fishy about that, the STI makes considerably less torque.

As for the gallons.. well the gallons are bigger in the UK so that definitely helps - 35/30 miles per imperial (UK) gallon = 30/25 miles per US gallon. And those figures are always fudged as you know.

Oh for cryin out loud.. they changed how much a gallon is? Why not just stick with good old kilometers and liters then?

Umm.. well I guess.. in 1824 at least, when the UK officially adopted the "ale gallon", as opposed to the smaller "wine gallon" which by then was the de facto standard in the US. At least according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallon).

We don't use kilometers (or even kilometres) in the UK, it's still all miles and mph. Fuel is sold in litres, but fuel consumption is still measured in MPG cos "litres per 100km" doesn't make any sense when you still use miles.

So, in short, the system of measurement in the UK is beyond messed up.

I'll second that, at least when it comes to motorsport goodies.

They should do more wagon special editions. Things like the STi forester.

Maybe a STi outback???
