This is not a finished DIY. I have yet to find additional information about grinding these calipers to fit STOCK 15x6 5 spoke and 6 spoke Legacy, Outback, etc. rims. I chose to do this because these rims have proven to be durable and economical.
I would appreciate additional information and answers to some questions. I will update the thread accordingly.
Did I take too much off the caliper?
Should I paint the caliper to prevent corrosion?
Is 2mm enough clearance?
before: I went into it thinking I would only grind past the outer indentation and the rest of the markings.

After: I found that after getting it as even as possible I had to go slightly further to get at least 2mm clearance. I only did one caliper to test it out for a while. I'm still planning on using high temp paint to prevent corrosion as long as these prove to be reliable for a while or if I get some replies to reassure that I didn't take too much off.

The rim is torqued down and spins freely.

This is how I measured approximately 2mm. The index paper was passed in between the caliper and rim with little effort. I would go as far as saying it's more like 2-3mm because its hard to get the caliper completely even with a angle grinder and belt sander.

Slid the index paper up, down, and moved the rim with little effort.
