*pics tomorrow*

I got my tools today and I will install everything tomorrow. Does anyone know the ft-lbs for the suspension bolts?

Just put everything tight. get the strut to knuckle bolts really tight, but the top hat nuts not as tight. lol. You dont really need to "torque" anything.

ok just wondering b/c the impact wrench I have goes to 235 ft/lbs and I didn't want to over tighten anything. I also got a torque wrench as well.

You can go on the Subaru website and pay to get access to PDF's of the fsm. I've got a healthy collection so far, comes in pretty handy. I'm also pretty anal about making sure things are torqued correctly.

anyone have any ideas on gow to remove the stock bolts from the top mount on the front suspension?

From page FS-21 in the service manual:

top mount nuts: 20 N.m (14.5 ft-lb)
camber adjusting bolt/nut: 175 N.m (129 ft-lb)
ABS sensor bolt and brake hose bolt: 33 N.m (24.3 ft-lb)
top nut (strut to top mount): 55 N.m (40.6 ft-lb)

There's also an overview diagram with torque values on pages FS-3,4.

Are you referring to the 3 studs sticking out of the top-hats?

The studs in the strut's top hats are pressed in. If you have a c-clamp you might be able to pop them out yourself. put a socket on the other side of the top hat around the head of the stud and put one side of the c-clamp on the stud and the other side on the back of the socket.

I had my friend pop them out with a press at his shop. took 2 minutes.

You need to get your hands on a set of spring compressors. Local autozone or advance auto parts might be able to loan a set.

Yeah, check your local auto parts store. they usually loan them out for a $50 deposit.

One inch is what I need. Maybe I'll just get the Subtle spacers. The Outback struts required modifying my top hats and King Springs are just too expensive since the spring rates are practically the same as a stock 09-10 WRX.

Any updates? Are the springs that you purchased the same that Rockrammer installed or is there more lift to yours? I can't wait to see more pics.

Also curious how the springs worked out. Did you get the additional height Kings or the stock height/increased rate version? I'm really tempted by the stock height version and plan to install them with the Koni adjustable inserts in the front and shocks in the rear. Are you using the stock strut inserts and shocks?

stock shocks and they are a slight increase in rate and height. I am waiting to see if I get another compressor for xmas or money to get it. Sorry for the delay. but i have waited months already for these to get installed I am in no hurry.

You definitly need the spring compressors! I did mine and it was pretty easy all in all. Not sure if you saw my thread but I took pics along the way of my install so you can get some hints of what you are getting yourself in to!

So does it seem to ride stiffer with the spacers, or just higher? I figured it may tighten things up a little. You can use compressors for free from Advanced Autoparts if you do a $50 deposit.

So, 1.5 years later: you ever get this finished? Did you need a different trailing arm? If so, what did you use to get the wheels closer to their stock position, front to back?
