1.Was just wondering. I found these OMP Seats for alot less expensive than most.

http://www.ompamerica.com/seats/644.html

Does anybody else have any tips or recommendations for a nice and sturdy seat, yet that weighs less than the one in that website? but still within that price range? $0 - 400 / per seat

http://www.ompamerica.com/pdf/OMP%20Racing%20Seat%20Chart.pdf

It's the 2nd from the top.

2. I was also wondering, i've been told by my brother and couple of the other forums that it's better to reupholster the rear seats instead of trying to buy new rear bench seats? If that's the case, How must One go about doing that?

3. Is it even worth getting lighter seats for my car? Or should I just stick with the OEM ones that came with it?

Thanks in advanced.

Those particluar OMP seats are bottom mount seats, not legal for most rally in North America as far as I know. They are light because they are a tubular frame with fabric slung over the tubes. This type of seat is pretty comfy and cheap.

I have to ask, why are you looking for this kind of seat? Unless you need to shed weight for performance reasons and you've exhausted every thing else, and already removed your front airbags thusly deactivating the side airbags in the seats of your 2007 2.5i that is listed in your profile then seats might be at the top of the list. Or if you need a safety seat for racing purposes (check your sanctioning body for seat rules in that case).

Otherwise there might be more suitable ways to apply the $800+ to your enthusiasm for your car/rally.

I have to ask, why are you looking for this kind of seat?.

The reason why I was looking around for a "budget" seats is because when I do go drive about and rally and stuff. I get thrown around in my car and it's not keeping me buckled in.

If you are looking to stay in a good driving position it might be better to start with a harness to do that rather than seats. Schroth has a snap in DOT legal setup that is pretty cheap compared to seats and might accomplish what you are after without giving up all the airbags you paid good money for.

Some food for thought.

Thanks for the tip on Schroth! I had not seen them before, but they look awesome for a DD weekend racer.

I have the Schroth harnesses, I like them, easy to put in and keep you in place snug as a bug. I kept the stock seatbelts in for everyday use, but thats just personal preference.
