So its pure stock 2.2 Boxer with new tires, new clutch, new k&n air filter, new belt, 120k miles, and new brakes! (I was a bit sad how its not disc brakes all around) Now comes my real question! I was wondering what would be effective mods. For instance would a modified air intake be worth the hassle! would a custom exhaust be worth it? i have read some threads on this forum that turned me away from it because of some posts saying the HP gain ratio isn't that high and what not!

Also the current hood i have on the car has the hood scoop and flares or w.e they are called but they are not functional?? they have filled plastic inserts it looks all for show? are there some after market inserts i can put on the hood so they become functional???

All knowledge and help is most appreciated!! also if any of my questions are already clarified in other threads please give me a link

There should be some backing plates on the vents you can remove with a 8mm wrench or socket. Then wiggle the plates off carefully and put the nuts back to hold the vents on. functional.

enjoy the car! I would suggest you do it all, exhaust, intake, the works, but thats just me :p

for a lot of DIY's - check out rs25.com as well.

I myself leave the battery side closed and I am in socal. I want to relocate the battery so condensation does not corrode my battery nods.

have fun with her!

yea when i was taking them off i noticed how the right side vent was right over the battery so i left it on! I took off the left one and the scoop one. Looking at it now i think I'm just going to cut up the scoop plate so more air can pass through and not be as restrictive.

The air will not do much. I left it off my car. Your in Washington with the rain, id throw it on during rain season ans take it off for summer.

Down here, I roll 24/7 with it off. Well, I sold it. hot item it is .
