I'll keep this to the point, i'm trying to replace some blown struts on my 07 STI which I use almost exclusivley for rallyx. Why is it that every strut I look at say's (excludes STI). I've looked at the k-sport rally spec gr coilovers but have mixed feelings about them. In short I've got to come up with something before the next rallyx im going to on the 9th 10th of october. So if anyone has some good suggestions on a suspension setup, I would really appreciate them becasue im having trouble coming up with anything. Also my budget is around $1,500.
Thanks,

Why do you think your STi struts are blown? they likely just need servicing to clean up the grease. I have yet to see a bona fide blown out STi strut from a GD that was not seriously abused on stage rally.
Have someone check them out before you blow a grand.

I know a lot of guys are loving the BC racing coilovers.

Before you throw them out and get something completely different, you may be able to revive these struts for the fraction of the price. Conside Feal Suspension's re-valve service.

definitely look into the revalve service. Very good option.
Also, lots of things say "not for STi" because your hubs are different than the rest of the impreza line.

To be more specific it's just the rears. They're blown like I jounce the car(compress the rear suspension) and it dosent rebound. Not in the traditional sense of puking oil past the seals, also I pulled the rear wheels and compressed the struts and they don't rebound to full stroke. The ride height in the rear is off/low so either the springs are fatigued(not likely) broken, cracked, or come out of the perch but this isnt the case they check out fine. The struts are bound or bent. The strange thing is that it occured on both sides. I'm totally for the re-valve service, but like I said I'm trying to get it done before my next event so I'm not sure if that will work for me.

Also I realize the hubs are different, why does'nt anyone make replacement/aftermarket struts to fit the different hubs.

In reference to the BC racing coilovers they seem good but are the spring rates stiff for rallyx. I'm not sure what ball park to shoot for though I'm sure alot of it will be driver preference. I like the stiffness of the stock STI springs and I wouldn't want to go much stiffer. Those coilovers have 6 and 8 k/mm springs which come out to 335 and 447 lb/in

I'll bet you anything that your struts are fine. They just need to be disassembled, cleaned and regreased. There are plenty of threads on many different forums about this. It is very common and a typical misdiagnosis for people not experienced with inverted struts.
