I finally talked my mom into trading in her Tahoe for and Outback today and while I was there I test drove an '08 WRX. I only drove it for about 3 or 4 miles, but I noticed that when accelerating from a stop it kind of had a shuttering (like I was lugging the engine, but I wasn't). It also happened when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I said something to the salesman about it and he said I wasn't the first to notice it. It could have been the center differential, not really sure for one little test drive. Anyone '08 owners or other test drivers experience this too?

They should really consider using a different car for test drives if its doing that...

No, it's way to confusing for me. I can never figure out what to do with my left foot and right hand.

Ha, I do the same thing with my left foot when I drive an automatic. It's just not natural.

Yeah....it's so hard starting the auto's without the clutch...confuses me every time. Not to mention I practice my left foot braking...but not on purpose

LFB > me at the last RallyX. Let's just say it's faster to hit the clutch when you want to shift.

the stuttering may be due to how the TCS works on the newer models

try turning it off (button near your right knee) and see if it still happens

automatics are fun , its like the passenger is shifting for you, never in the right gear

Sounds like what some of the 04's and 05's did when I test drove them new. I always figured it was the stock ecu map. My car even did it a little bit at times once the car tried to "adjust" to conditions - I would usually just reset it by disconnecting the battery. Since I flashed to stage 1, it was forever gone.

I have had people comment about me trying to stomp the clutch pedal to start the car. I also tend to drive with my hand on the automatic shifter.

I hate driving automatics ever since all I do is drive my 5spd Zx2.
I drove well...tried to drive my parents Taurus and I keep forgetting its an auto
I always hit the brake with my left foot WAY to damn hard.
At stop lights I try finding the clutch when there is none...
I just all around hate autos now

Yea I let my dad drive my subaru to champaign a couple months ago (he drives a diesel F-250 dually with a 5speed manual) and he 'bout gave me whiplash... then again he's never owned an auto in his life...

its the nasty 91 octane fuel that CA offers, our cars arent getting the right air to fuel ratio due to the green state gas regulations. our ECU's are meant to run 94-100 octane, i live in cali so i tent to mix the pump 100 octane or get a drum of 112 and mix in 2 gallons on a half tank, it REALLY cleans it up, no stuttering in second gear or any gear for that matter. just pure suby power!:headbang:

forgot to mention that it is pretty hard to find VP at the pump but if u look hard enough im sure you can find some. if not im sure your local motorcycle shop will have 5 gallon drums for around 50 dollars. its 112 in the drums so its a little more expensive than the pump. also make sure not to mix too much and confuse your ecu

For automatics I usually use my left foot for the brakes. I'm not used to automatics and accustomed to using both feet.
