So I bought a rear differential from an 02 WRX with an automatic transmission....so it has the 4.11 gears. I was damn near convinced my car had 4.11 gear, so at the rallycross this weekend I am BSing with some people about it and Matt mentions that he thought the car had 3.90 something gears..hmm I think. He works at a dealership so today he looked it up and whaddya know - 05 RS came with either 3.90 gears for the base...or the 4.11 gears for the RS Sport. I have the base so I have the 3.90 gears....I gotta say I am pretty glad I ran into him, talk about a nightmare if I had installed that 4.11 diff. Luckily a good friend of mines father is a trans specialist and we are going to just swap my 3.90 gears into the LSD!

Oh man thats awesome!! you have 3.90 gears?!?!?!

I thought all 2.5RS's came with 4.11's. I'm glad you found that out!

Yeah no kidding..get this the 04 RS with the auto tranny came with 4.44 gearing!!!!!

WOW that would have been gnarly if you got the wrong geared diff installed. i can only imagine the sounds...

if you need to ditch the 4.11 gears, I will set you up with a potential buyer (rally team near me)

I found out the differntial is a bit different and I wont be able to swap my gears into it either. So I am trading the diff to Paul Eddleson in exchange for a Corbeau Forza race seat. Luckily with my car having 3.90 gears finding a LSD from a WRX wont be a problem at all as they are way more common than the 4.11 LSD units

Its been ordered so hopefully I'll be picking it up from Paul this weekend. When is the first WOR event?

ok so i have no idea how rallycross works but would like to get into it. how much does it cost to enter and can anyone randomly enter?

Yep anyone can enter, events usually range around $25-40. I'm sure some of the Ohio crew will chime in about specific local events

do i need to do anything beforehand or do i just show up at an event and say "hey, i would like to enter!!"??

is the Western Ohio Region SCCA site, there will be lots of information on there. Most place also use www.myautoevents.com for registration. Any yep, just show up and ask lots of questions :)

Yep - post up a new thread in the Midwest section about attending events in OH and you'll get a much better response from the guys who run the OH events :wink:
