Hey all,

I've been lurking around the boards for a little while now, and I figured it was about time I introduced myself to everyone (although doing it at work probably isn't the best idea :).

Anyways, I've always been a car guy, but never really knew anything about cars. My first car was a '91 Buick Regal (got it for free, can't beat that!), followed by a '94 Civic (worst purchase, ever...). I finally got into Subarus in '04, when I was looking for an AWD 4-dr replacement for my Civic. I test drove the WRX, was hooked, and didn't have to drive anything else! I'm now onto my second subie, an '07 STi Limited #320. I love this thing, I've had it for over a year now and I still am amazed by it's power!

So how'd I get into rally? Well, I've always enjoyed watching WRC, but never thought there was a way for me to participate. Enter PSG Evo (Gus), who took me along to help marshal at Rally New York. Seeing and hearing fully prepped rally cars up close really got my adrenaline running, and even though I wasn't in the drivers seat, it was an amazing event and I was hooked! I then tasted my first rallyX in at the RallyRPI USNY rallyX last year (in my WRX), and I knew this was something I wanted to continue to do!

Fast forward to this year: I've helped again with two more Rally New York events, and have been promoted to co-stage captain with Gus. We've also hosted this years USNY rallyX and since this year was dry, the course was amazing and by far one of the most fun racing events I've ever been to! However, the STi didn't come out unscathed, and I'll probably be buying a project car for my next rallyX event.

I hope to be able to contribute somewhat to DI as well as learn as much as possible from all the rally enthusiasts, and hopefully we can continue to organize more rallyX events here in New England, because they seem to be in short supply!

Rally Monkey!!!

welcome to the forums. I think a dedicated rallycar is the way to go. Less worrying about if you'll be able to get to work on monday, etc. Move out to California, we have lots of rallycross out here, and its always* dry!

*not always dry but usually dry.

what's RallyRPI? is that around Troy, NY? (my Dad went to RPI and my mom grew up in Troy, so I'm pretty familiar with that area)

LoL

RPI Sports Car Club sponsored the event the first year (3 years ago), in Greenwich NY, at the fair grounds where I work .. SO they named it RallyRPI;)

PSG Took over sponsorship for the last 2 years and has had it @ the farm in Granville (about 15 minutes past greenwich) troy is about 45minutes south of greenwich, I lived there for a month and my apartment was broken into 3 times... LoL, I should have just listened to the people that warned me not to move down there...

I here ya on the poject car, my STi has some scars from the Rorchester Rally-x. Just gotta find one, I think subies are cheaper on the West Coast or at least So Cal, because it doesn't snow.

cheaper here in CA? i dont know. There are some people that swoop up REALLY good deals from desperate sellers (my friend just got an 01 RS for like $5K) but thats almost impossible to find. East coast i would think you would have some leverage on prices, trying to talk people down because of rust, etc...

No way, an 01 2.5rs is still going for 10k out here, Subarus hold their value out here on the east coast, the cheap ones are the ones that are falling apart.
