So I've been running around with the front sway bar and no rear sway bar.

Decided to do a test.
(this was as far as I could go before leaving rubber on the pavement)

So I disconnected the front sway bar and took it for a ride.
Not as much body roll as I expected, didn't get on the highway but imagine it's quite noticeable there.

Went back up the ramps, what a difference.
(could have went farther, couldn't rock it at all like this)

So that's all fine and good but would it make a difference off road.
Luckily I have a small area to play in right next to my neighborhood.
Theirs a hill there about 20/25 ft high, about 45 deg angle, rutted and off camber.
I could climb it with the front sway but only with some momentum.
Now I crawled up it from a dead stop in 2nd gear with the 4eat lock engaged,no wheel spin whatsoever.

:headbang::headbang::headbang:

I made quick disconnects for the rear before I removed it completely, thinking of putting that back on and removing the front.
Anybody done this,any thoughts?

i have no experience with a Forester, but with my jeep i dont run swaybars. and there is alot of body roll do to having solid axles, but i can image wish independent suspension there would be alittle less. its nothing that is unbearable, but if you had to suddenly avoid something there is a much greater chance you will hit it. as for off road, no sways will let you keep your tires on the ground more by having more flex. for example, with swaybars my jeep flexed like a brick. but with out i was able to follow a locked wrangler up a rocky and sandy trail. and i'll throw in some flex pictures for you.

with out(could actually get more out of the rear)

Thats impressive. I run my STI without front sways and it works fine, seems to be easier to rotate and control when sideways

How did you make the disconnects?
I'm replacing the rear bar soon and would like to try it.

What size Geolanders are those?

Front an rear connected.

I dont have any swaybars on my '95 Corolla hatch, and it's just fine at highway speeds. Kicks ass off road.

Definetly NO sways for me. Still handles like a champ on the pavement and way better off road. I won't be putting sway bars back on either wagon.

This thing did not even have a rear sway bar from the factory. The front went directly to the trash as soon as I had it up on the lift.
