My tires are dead. I need a new set. Previously i was using Kumho ASX's and well, they were good in snow and things like that driving up to the mountains, but I'm not sure if they're the best option for competing in rallycross.
I have a devoted set of rims that i will be using these tires on, so I'm not too worried about how they are on tarmac.
Firstly i need some tires that will perform well in hard dirt to loose sandy gravel.
Second, money is always an issue. I dont want to spend more than $150 per tire.
Third, Rally tires arent an option at this point, they need to be street legal M+S tires.
My friend gave me great reviews on the Pirelli PZero Nero's, but he isn't a real offroad nut.
Thanks for your input!

The guy that runs it, Paul, is very active in the grassroots rally scene around Michigan.

WinterForce M+S
Cheap and relatively rugged. Team O'Neil uses them on most of their school cars and they seem to do pretty well. The set I have for the Arrow are great for those colder days when the Hankook rally tires have the consistency of hockey pucks. :P

A friend of mine recommended these tires. I had never heard of them until last week. Anyone know if they are good or not? the price is right on par with the Kumho ASX, but much cheaper thatn the Pirelli P-Zero's

+1 for the Winterforces. Not only do they rock in snow, but they are great for rallyx. Soft sidewall like all snow tires, but they put up with a lot of abuse. I'm running a larger profile than I should be (206/60R16's), but they haven't rolled off the bead no matter what I throw at them... gravel, snow, dirt, mud, tarmac. And like Tim said... cheap.

Hah, yeah those are cheap, i dont have a set of rims or steelies that fit the applications they offer though. Those are hardcore winter tires though!

Dang, i totally forgot about this thread...
I ended up getting the Generals (Exclaim UHP). so far theyre doing very well. I'm pretty happy with them in the dirt. They just barely squeak into Street Modified (SM4) by about .01" on the sipes! :) :) :)

I've heard that BF Goodwrench KDWS are pretty good. I have them on my stang and looked at them. The sipes look to be a pretty decent size. I have also thought about the Kumhos. They were great on snow, but not sure about dirt and mud.

From what I have heard the Potenza G009 is a great rally tire. granted its only an all season, but the wet traction unbeatable.

I use Bridgestone Blizzaks.. they are a bit soft but damn do they hook up in show and dirt and mud... one of the best tires for snow cross (well here in WI)
