on my 93, my clutch is cable driven (push pull type). it goes as followed, clutch pedal cable to the fork, fork out to what looks like a slave cylinder that has hard line running to my brake master cylinder, what is this. i think i broke my clutch fork but i wanna make sure this isn't some type of old hydraulic clutch system that just needs bleeding. i ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want to drop my transmission again, until it is necessary.
thanks

Hill-holder gismo would be my guess. Some of the Subaru's from that vintage had a hill-holder feature that would keep the car from rolling backwards on a hill while the clutch was pushed in.

It doesn't even look clutch related to me. My 96 (I have cable type clutch) and does not have that at all.
I would take it off and see what happens, but that's how I roll, not always the smartest way to go. Test it in your driveway before you go out on the roads.

+1 for Rallycat66
I have one on my 93 FWD Impreza. You can put the clutch in without the brakes being applied and you won't roll back. Brakes will be released by clutch plate engagement.
