so i have a 2001 2.5rs coup with the stock 16's on it, and i just ran over a nail and destroyed one tire. I figured "no big deal, ill get dirt tires" but, low and behold either the price for dirt tires on 16's is sky high or the tires just dont exisist.

my question is (and yes i searched, i just wasnt happy with what i found) is there any other good sets of agressive dirt tires out there that will fit my 16 inch rims without me having to sell a kidney?

example of what would be (is) badass: 06drtywgn http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1136

im just looking for something that would be sweet to have until i have the money to buy 15's and some gravel tires.

thanks,

Galen

Go to the salvage yard and pick up for 15" wheels for $200-$300 depending on what design you want.

The stock Subaru aluminum wheels are very strong and what I used on my rally car for the first 2 years till I went to the 4-pot brakes.

Spending $200 on wheels will save you alot on money instead of trying to buy 16" gravel tires, which are very hard to find a real rally tire in 16"

Other wise you will have to run a snow tire on the 16" wheels.

I picked up my steelies for $125 with tires. They ae out there you just gotta find em. Also you can look for some 15" alloys off an 98-99 outback.

i found some, but than relized that i really dont want hevy steelies as my only set of tires. im buying some snow tires and saving my money to buy some rally rims and tires (tryin to do it right the first time).

ill look into the outback thing, that may pay off as a cheap set of rims to mount dirt tires on.

i snagged a set of 15" legacy wheels a month ago for $150. they're out there. you've just gotta find'em! also, i raced all year on steelies. i did manage to warp both fronts, but i run'em in rallycross anyways.

Here is an expensive 16" tire which is 26.1" in outer diameter and looks sweet for dirt. It takes up to 85 psi! It weighs way too much though (34lbs). I'm hooked on finding some tires now.

In europe they got plenty of small truck tires that would be perfect for us. But I can't find anything but this Yokahama in the U.S..
