I am also curious what your lift is made up from.
did you do the standard forester struts springs? or have you gone a step further and done forester struts w/ scorpion lift springs?

Nice car, you need some truck tires to fill up the wheel wells :D. And before you ask, yes, it can - and has - been done 8)

Awesome, I like it. A bit more lift than me. Have you looked into larger tires? I'm running BFGs 215-75-15 with a 1'' lift.

Car is on KYB AGX struts, and Forester springs...thats it! I am working on a set of gravel rally struts i think. Actually looking to get into rallyx alot more, so something a lil more suitable then a monster lifted wrx! center of gravity is a lil too high for rallyx i think!

Sweet dude. It was great meeting you at SEMA this year. I'm the guy who will be putting the forester springs/struts on very shortly. (just waiting on my camber bolts to arrive!) It's funny because I was trying to find a forester-lifted GD and couldn't.. then I fly out to SEMA and there you are.

Something in the 205/70-75 range would be good for that lift.. Used to have a set up like that on my Outback..Very fun offroad, but can be top heavy for rally x. Ask Qman and Zap what can happen..
Can help you with rally suspension if you haven't found anything. A couple of the GC cars in Laughlin were running on it..The BRP '00 RS (Bill Hoffman) was at the rally x, and the '95 Coupe (Rockrohr/Jacobs) ran the stage rally, 2nd in Prod 4wd for the weekend.
Nice rally pigs, btw..

i'm going to start talking to a few local off road shops to see if something like that could ever be possible.
i'm sure with enough $$$ to throw at it it's doable.

the crazy far out ambitions would be welded center diff. full independent long travel front suspension and complimentary rear.
and maybe an 06 sti front end swap to provide wider fender flares to compensate for a wider front end track width.

Uh I WANT your struts!! Not the springs though.

I am pretty sure Leeway's plate is generic but you might be thinking of the Rally Innovations GC that has been at some SoCal rally-x events.. similar color with a 'rally me' plate...

Yeah, you are correct on both counts. The Rally Innovations car is 555 blue (McRae tribute I think) now though.

its looks good, but you do realize what you have to do now..from experience of lifting things i should know.. you have to extend the break lines so next time you go flying in the air you have stoppers when u come down, also see how the wheels started moving inward... you need to extend control arms and braces and yeah you can get away with it.. but one day you will have a broken car and a $1500 bill plus what ever else went wrong.. just an idea to look into that.. i did a basic lift on a jepp.. i know not entirely the same but holy crap! never expected any of the huge list to go wrong, ok well have a good day

The only thing that I do not like about lifting a car by extending or shimming the strut is the fact that the lower a arm angle increases. You now have more horizontal wheel movement which causes poorer traction and in extreme cases a rougher ride. Extending a arms after you have increased a arm angle does not solve the problem you create. It just simply widens the track width to what it was before and lifts the car even more.
I've built a arms on trucks, changed a arm pivot points... so I'm not just quoting a suspension book. I am kind of just over it. To much work, I just want to drive my cars now.

actually he just had forester xt springs on kyb agx's for the wrx.
Yes, springs that EXTEND the strut by topping it out more. That is even worse. Now you add less free sag and less droop.
Hey if you think the ride is good enough, that's ok with me.
The car does look cool, and I don't intend on making anyone feel like they are doing bad things with their cars. I'm just giving some feedback on how doing this affects suspension geometry.

Long time no post on my part...whoops!! HI GUYS!!!
In order to prevent all of these problems, there is a simple fix..well 2 actually
1.) DONT DO IT...but thats no fun!! so...
2.) pick up a set of the cradle spacers from an outback or forester from the junkyard (these are found between the unibody and the front and rear "cradles", if you will. this will allow the control arms to be lowered ~1/2" helping the suspension to be closer to its original geometry...just a thought...and thats the way i did it on the GC i am currently building...

yea, i looked into it..i have built a few lifted subies...but started in jeeps. Had a 98 Wrangler with a full custom 48" travel "crawler" setup..so I have done a few things with lifted vehicles...hahaha
Thanks for the ideas tho!
