Just wondering what everyone has done to their cars. So far I've just done a few things to protect the car

Rally Armor front skid
OEM rear
20mm WRX rear sway bar
Rally Armor mudflaps
Hella lights
Mr. Muffler special axleback
15" OEM Steelies w/Michelin gravel tires
Schroth Rallye 4 harness

For my Subaru 2.5TS...

Carbon-Kevlar skidplate in the front, Subaru Rear diff protector. 15" steelies with 4 season old Blizzaks.

Otherwise - bone stock. Seems to be working pretty well though - the last two times I ran this car (I usually run my Arrow), I took a first overall and a 2nd overall. :P

Now the driver's fuzzy logic software - that's been under constant upgrade for the last 25 years. :)

Just a little like it ;) That looks like Hendrik Blok's 76 - mine's a 79. Not the greatest picture, but...

front or rear wheel drive?

front or rear wheel drive?

The Arrow? Rear wheel drive and crazy sideways most of the time. The running joke is that you have to start counter steering before you hit the starter.

I have a few engine mods that put me around 230whp.

for rally x, I have the same protection as most (rallyarmor flaps and skid plate).

Tires, I'm running Dunlop Winter Sport 3D (205/55/17) on some cheap ebay rims.

suspension, I have bilstein PSS9's. I love them on the street, and am still figuring out how to dial them in for rally x.

After my first 2 events, I need to raise my rear about 1.5inches. I may raise the front about a half inch...maybe an inch.

I'm thinking my springs may be too stiff, so I'm going to call RA or maybe Bilstein directly and figure out what options i have for springs. If anyone has any details on optional springs for Bilstein coilovers, I'd love to hear it.

oh, and I'm on stock sways, thinking of keeping it like that.

thx, Jon

Anyone have any setup for a STi?

Heres my STi setup:

STi pink springs
STi lateral links
STi trailing arms
STi end links
Cusco Front and Rear swaybars
Cusco front OS strut bar
X-brace rear strut bar
17x8 Rota Slipstream Wheels
General Exclaim UHP 235/45/R17 M+S tires (SM legal)
Braille Auto lightweight racing battery
Rally Armor 3/16" front skidplate
Rally Armor UR Limited Mudflaps

Thats about it for handling, some of the go fast stuff:
Vishnu Signature Series Stainless 3" Catless TBE
Cobb Stage 2 EM
Perrin Crankpulley

and to keep me in the seats:
Schroth Profi-II ASM 4 point harnesses w/ quick release camlocks

I would definitely invest in some quality coilovers if youre seriously going to get into romping the car. the Pinks dont do a real good job. Definitely get something with good gas shocks (Bilstein, etc) the PSS9's look pretty good IMO

I'm planning on running SA class so I won't be doing that much. I'm assuming the Subaru short shifter would count as a port installed option and not bump me out of SA.

Don't mention that particular "upgrade". There are those in the rallyx community that are convinced that a short shifter is an advantage and insist that you be put in prepared because of it. Personally, I can't figure out why, because my usual 1 shift per run really isn't gaining me much time by having said item in my car. :P Now if we were shifting a couple dozen times per run, maybe you'd gain a second or two.

But the short shift is legal for a Subaru in stock class autox as long as it is a port installed option and not just something that the dealer put on. Basically if it's on the window sticker then the shifter is legal.

But we are not running Solo rules and the RallyX rules specifically call out short shift kits as being in Prepared (it's dumb, I hate it, but it got into the rules anyway - along with the exclusion on Carbon/Kevlar skid plates :( ). The Port Installed options is a sticky subject in most series. I don't think the SCCA Rallyx rules differentiate port installed options - in which case, if it couldn't be ordered from the factory that way, then it's not "stock".

Like I said, don't mention it and I doubt anyone will ever argue about it even if they do know you have it. 99.9% of the folks out there realize that it's not an advantage on the typical rallyx course and don't give a rat's hieney about it.

That's kinda bunk. Even the SCCA calls it "autoxing in the dirt". And I wanted to go to the rallyx nationals this year.

but it isn't...
different game, different rules

I get this all the time at tech. "but in autox this, autox that". I always respond with, "Do you know what class you are in?" "Did you read the latest rallycross rules?"
The usual reply is no to both questions....drives me nuts. Read the rulebook people, it's not a large document!

(not directed at anyone in particular)
Then you have people that turn up without numbers & class designations and have to stick blue tape on the car that is inevitably illegible.
You have a $30,000 Sti....buy some feckin magnetic numbers for crying out loud....

rant over

I understand about the tech business, I usually take care of the tech when I can make it out to an event. But I don't do anything with classing, I let someone else take care of that since I don't keep up with the rules. I used to just run whatever my car went in so I could play but now I guess I'll have to get ahold of a stock shifter also so I can run SA. It just sucks that this car came with the shifter package plus the SPT package and now I've got to take all this stuff off of it.

Dark_helmet, what have you done to your car that keeps it out of stock, not including the shifter. If you never told anyone at a rallycross about it, no one would be looking at it. And believe me, I'm a rules kinda guy, I was at the Hastings event last year.

It's funny how people do make the comparisons between autox and rallycross, I do it. They differ greatly just looking at "stock" classes.

If you said you plan to go to the Nationals, just go. For the most part don't change anything else, except to get the best tires that are legal for the class, that's all you need to do. If you have the chance T. O. Haas in Omaha probably can get some of the best tires.

Well the only things I need to take off would be the shifter and the SPT intake.
