Yeah Supertones are pretty awesome! Unfortunately my low pitched horn died after some rather large puddles. I have them mounted in the engine bay, but I think that the relay just got wet.

I love these things and we have sold a bunch too. I have been meaning to put some on my wifes Protege 5 as it sounds really pathetic right now and need to put some on my race car too for when we are blasting through the paddock way too fast. Just haven't had the time and can't keep them in stock long enough.

Oh, $60 to DI members thru November.

Much louder . Just make sure you don't wire the horn switch to a constant on 12v, making you crap yourself in suprise, when you turn the key on. Heres my install....

These things are amazing. It made a group of turkeys in a road jump about 30ft straight up. As well as causing an old woman who was starting to merge into me quickly swerve right and jump across two lanes in fright.

^^^^ exactly why they are on my bike.

Drew84
01-03-2008, 03:52 AM
Yeah you need them on a bike. I get a lot of people who ask what they are? Are they fans ? Are they lights? then I make them stand in front of the car hehehe and proceed to deafen them.

I mounted mine onto the metal ABS box. Stealth horns are badass. And plus the hella horns behind the grill thing is kinda played out.

I'm thinking about some...to prep for install...is there any wiring required on an '04. Some have said yes, and some have said no, but for different years. How much and what type of wire should I get?

And lastly...is it pretty easy to mount them in a covert spot, or would that just require more length of wire?

having them mounted on the front grill is the most logical place for'em! another option (if you really want stealth) is to just paint'em black and mount'em on the grill where they'll be heard the best.

I only had to extend one wire for my set up. I simply attached the single factory horn wire to the positive terminal of the horns, then ran a ground from the horns and thats it. You don't need to wire in the relay. The car has a factory horn relay. Its for applications that didn't have a horn before or a relay.

I agree...but in South Bay, where i-club is at it's strongest, I don't want to be confused with one of them, even with my cleared headlights...

As for paint, just remove the red bracket and throw down some spray paint on 'em?

w00t! Installed successfully! Had to extend the driver side horn hookup about 3 inches or so....but really easy altogether.

However, on my '04 wagon, I have a little thing that says "buzzer" that was mounted on the passenger side of the horn mounting area, what is that? It doesn't seem to have a function in the locking noise or the alarm....

They will drown out any annoying honda exhaust, even if they are revving at 12,000
and still going 30mph

fedEx dropped off my horns today-Woot:headbang: but I only managed to pull off the grill before the sun went down :-(.

Anyhoo, the factory horn has 2 wires (the bigger one, + i presume and the smaller one, grnd). So??, all I need to do is extend the (+) wire to the horns (via a "y" connection) and do the same to the return ground to the original ground connector?

Question, which post on the horn is the (+)? whatever wire I attach to it? they aren't marked so I guess that is it.

Also, is it better to ground to another location besides the ground for the factory horn?

I thought that the Supertones were directional horns and that is why they are mounted right behind the grill facing forward. But maybe I am wrong.

They're very loud with the hood closed from the front of the car. I dont have my passenger side vent cover attached, and you can see the horns through it. Other drivers can hear me on the interstate, so thats all that matters.

I work in an outlet center and some coworkers wanted to here them after I installed them. I set the alarm off from inside the store and even with the door closed they still covered their ears. Once I shut them off 3 or 4 other car alarms were going off:headbang:

Or...anyone know how I could go about wiring one (but probably WAYYY over my head)?

It's just a regular relay. You can get one at any parts store or radioshack.

A few instructions here: http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&rlz=1T4GGLJ_en&q=supertone+wiring+diagram&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=eAWgScG_MZ6Dtwfshcn6DA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title

I am glad it was that easy. $10 at Kragen. I didn't realize the 85/86/87/30 relay setup was the standard. Hooray!

My horns work again....and I definitely used 'em on some idiot yesterday.

HELLA GOOD.
