I have magnets for my usual number (25) and my class (SM4). I've not used the class ones once this year. So I'd say, not really. I think there are some disciplines/regions where it's more important.

Thinking about ordering a magnetic number panel for my car, quesiton... is class panel needed as well?

If you can hold off for just a bit, Im in talks with redline rally about getting custom DirtyImpreza number magnets made up.

Also as an FYI - We've been talking (on RallyXPortal) about "reserving" numbers and FRX has been looking for a sponsor to go in with to do some kind of inexpensive number panels. . .

Not bad, but how about this for an idea (for those of us magnet compatible bondo challenged vehicles :P)

Take 409Industries signature layout (with Petter coming through the corner) and do that up in about the same size as the current WRC door numbers/event logos. Obviously replacing the animated GIF of Petter with your car number. The reason I point to 409's signature is I like the "Remembering Colin McRae" addition on that .

Take that a step further and make up the backer with the DI logos to go on the car and sell the numbers separately on magnets so it can be quickly changed for those of us running multiple drivers.

i like that idea, but i'd imagine the cost would definitely go up due to the added time in production and so on

The only thing about that idea is those of us who don't want a permanent marking on our car - the weekend warriors. Just to clarify, you are suggesting doing a setup like RallyAmerica has with their door panel plates, right? And then put the magnets on top of that? Just making sure we're talking about the same thing...

It could be done on magnets too - I was just putting a plug in for the "sticker option". :) As for the layout, I'm thinking WRC style, not RA style.

The ones from Japan were bigger than I remember, but this gives you an idea of the layout.

Just picture the DI bumper sticker rather than Rally Japan. I'll try to mock it up tomorrow if I get a chance (i.e. if the front shock go into the wagon smoothly :rolleyes:).

Hey Aaron - you got the stickers we were asked to put on our cars from laughlin - that layout would be great. And it would be well sized to enable us to magnetize them with numbers in the little square portion. . .

Indeed they were a good size (unfortunately mine are crumpled in the trunk of my car ATM) I think the WRC style number badges would be VERY cool! For some reason i just instinctively think of the RA style when it comes to rallycross, but it really doesn't have to be that way.

Having options would be awesome, but i agree with Blixx that I want to keep this an affordable option so people will actually purchase them.

Anyone else have any feedback on a RA style vs. WRC style number badge? Do we want a class designation included too?

The WRC style one, measuring 26"w x 9"h, will come in two options:
WRC - 1: 1 large magnet for each side, with number permanently affixed - $40.00
WRC - 2: 1 large vinyl for each side, with number affixed to a 9.5"w x 8.5"h magnet - $45.00

The larger magnet is only 1 option: A 16"w x 12"h magnet for each side - $35.00

All prices do not include S&H of $8.00 per magnet SET (that means 1 order of 2 door magnets). Turn around time will be 5 days, plus however long the DHL Ground shipping takes to get there.

I too like that one the best. It gives it a Rally America / SCCA feel.

I would like my number panel to have two numbers and have a place where I can put my own magnetic class numbers/letters.

How would we go about locking in a number for the whole Rally X Season(Both FRX and CRS)?? I wouldn't want to buy these and not be able to use them because someone stole my number.

For FRX and CRS, it's best to contact the club directly (whoever the main contact person might be... ??) and check with them on number availability.

the NER/SCCA (New England Region) provides loaner magnets to all competitors that don't have thier own. so lots of people aren't really inclined to buy thier own set when they know they'll have a set to use for free at the event.
