So, I got a good deal on this restrictor. But, I do need to machine it fit my poor little TD04 Turbo. Anyways, its off of a IHI VF37 turbo TWIN SCROLL turbo. The TD04 has a taper on the inlet so...is it going to be a pain to get the taper just right? :cuckoo: I cannot find a photo of a restrictor for a TD04 on the interwebs. Ok Thanks guys.

If you take the restrictor and the intake side of the turbo to your machinist, he should be able to make it work no problem.

True. If you can get an old Machinist, someone thats been doing it for ages, you'll have the best results.

IMO...you're also going to want a spare. I've seen a lot of cars fail RA pre-race scrutineering because their turbo inlet was too large (usually due to the engine being warm, and the heat having expanded it).

Thanks guys! I measured the restrictor at 50 deg. and it was at 33.4 mm. It looks well used so I think it will do just fine. Ok off to the machine shop!

If you need a 34mm restrictor for an TD04, I've got one. Didn't fit my TD05 ;)

yeah all that time and it is hidden in an inlet tube! Like most of my work it all ends up hidden or un-noticed :)

Made mine as well, but with the intake and TGV off I forgot to account for the clearance around the TGV and ended up cutting it short to look something like what All Wheels Driven is selling.
I used to have a picture of the GR. N Subaru one which is fairly long hour glass shape to get around the TGV, but also uses a different inlet hose.

That's actually half of the story ;)
The GrpN restrictor also requires that the intake manifold and TGV housing be ground down slightly in order for it to fit. (It's actually a homologated modification).
Here's the doc that shows the intake related bits: http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B1HHrwRakue6NDUyOGUyM2QtYTM3Zi00MGIxL TlkOTUtMzA1NGU3YTM5NGY4&hl=en
