Oil light

Not sure where to put this. So I started driving today and when I got to a red light my oil light starts to flash and when I start to go it turns off. So I'm not sure what would cause this i changed my oil last month and still looks good. Any help would be awsome and thanks in advance.

the light is a low pressure warning(afaik) so if car shut off it's becuase there was no oil pressure (to save the internals).

my guess would be oil pump gone bad?

It could also be that your oil pick-up tube cracked and should be replaced, preferably with an aftermarket unit: http://www.killerbmotorsport.com/

^^ I was not aware of the pickups being an issue. Thinking about it that may have contributed to my massive oil consumption...will be replacing during rebuild to be safe

Thanks for the replies i will be keeping an eye on that oil light.
For some reason I haven't seen the light since I drove home from my parents house. Its the strangest thing:cuckoo:

i dont know if its normal or not, but mine turns on for like 2 seconds every time i turn on my car.
it could just be that i have crappy sparkplug tube gaskets though...

Well i was doing some thinking and maybe it was a service light i just hit 70,000 miles?

i'd think that would be a CEL, not the oil light, but there is a good chance im wrong.

when i am able to get a chance i will go to autozone and check the car for codes.
