Is there such a beast? I hope to find lightweight 2 piece rotors that simply replace the 2/4 pot 5x100 brake rotors. My goal is to cut rotating mass.

the only ones i've seen are DBA 4000's, adn they aren't really "cheap".

Are the 4000s a 2 piece design or is it only the 5000s? I thought the 4000s were a one piece design. Does Ion Performance make a set that simply replaces the stock rotor with a lighter two piece unit?

BTW, I put this in the wrong forum again. I'm looking for 01' GC fitments.

The 5k's are 2 piece, the 4k's are single.

On NASIOC, look for the thread "My Slow GC8 Build" The guy has pictures of the lightest rotors I've ever seen for 5x100 in there.

I'm waiting to hear what the pricing is, but I found a solid lead on what I'm looking for. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

This is going to let me shave about 24lbs of rotating, unsprung mass off the car with 15in wheels, short profile tires, and 2-piece rotors. It should feel really snappy with a 4.60:1 effective final drive .

Do share when you can. I am always interested in shedding rotating mass

Jack at Ion has just a couple of sets left. They weren't popular sellers. I don't know what his asking price is yet, but that's where I found them.

The bad news is they are only for the fronts instead of all four.

JSCSpeed.com has a listing for the DBA 5k fronts for $705. they dont have a listing for rear. You got the same theory I do with rotating mass and unsprung weight. thats why i run 16x7 on my wagon. I'm not road coursing it so I dont need 245mm tires. Rock volk TE37's approx 12lbs each. I shaved 3.3lbs per corner with just the wheel/tire combo.

(sorry for jacking thread)

Picking up my DBA5000 tomorrow, installing this weekend. They only make these for front.

Hmm I will have to weigh our Jackson Rally 2pc front rotors. I also have stockers lying around but I will have to find a scale. We offer these rotors for 5x100 and 5x114.3 for 05 up STI with 4 pots for 15'' wheels. It just never occured to me to weigh them

Ok got my rotors today, 5.7kg on the bathroom scale. These are DBA 5000 to suit wrx 4 pots.

I havent weighed my stock rotors yet but they are worn down to 22mm thick so may not be a fair comparison.

Well I weighed my stock rotors, 8.1kg and thats after they were worn down to minimum thickness

So it looks like the DBA5000 save you around 2.5kg of rotating mass per disc.
