View Full Version : will 05 forester struts work on a 96 imp outback?

Anyone know if a 05 stck struts will swap out with a 96 impreza outback... I know it might have camber issues but will they swap?

You might have to change out the hubs or make shims.


It would be more work then it is worth.

They should, but you will probably need the tophats from the rear of the Forester.

fronts should bolt right up. rears could be different. forester top hats might fix the issue.

The forester top hats actually have a larger bolt circle diameter on the mounting bolts then the imprezas do. You will want to find some WRX tophats the same year as the forrester struts so the tophats fit your L body. I ran into this problem with my 00' RS and ended up having to grind out the tophat mounting holes on the body to fit the larger bolt circle diameter of the forester tophats.

Are you using the springs from the forester also? If you are using the forester springs also you will need the WRX tophats, but if you are just using your stock L springs then use the L tophats.

hmmm... this interests me... far cry from the F250 highboy I had when I got my license but anything with a lift and mean tires is fun... :D:D:D

Well instead of starting a new lift thread I'm gonna ask in this one. I have a 2001 Impreza RS and I need a lift now thanks to this site. I want better than stock stuff. Can I get a set of kyb agx's for say like a 2000 forester and use 2000 forester springs and then like 02 wrx top hats for a bolt on 2-3" lift? I understand the rear camber will be quite off. Could I use camber bolts top and bottom to correct it. Will that be enough? I wanna order this stuff like yesterday. I'm pretty impulsive when it comes to modding my car. That's how I woke up with 300hp. Thanks for any help.
