the odometer in my 98 legacy gt is not well lit nor easy to read ...

a suggestion I heard was try mounting a small web cam and routing signal to a small video display screen ... this certainly seems like a good idea ..

is this allowable for SOP ... being able to clearly read the vehicle odometer under any lighting / driving conditions ... would be really helpful ... and safer too ..

thanks

Charlie

I can't see how it would be illegal due to the fact that you're not altering the stock ODO in any way. Doesn't mean someone won't protest you if you win.

Check with your club, there is no national unified set of rules for "SOP." I've heard some clubs put tape over the odometer altogether.

My though would be that it would be legal. There is nothing in any ruleset that I've ever seen that would restrict you from having some sort of device to help you read the odometer better. As long as you don't alter the operation of the stock odo in any way, I can't see how any protest could be upheld over a video camera and remote screen being used to read it (provided of course that you are allowed reference to the odo in your club's version of "SOP").

Why not just get a 12v map light and use that to better illuminate your ODO?

a 12 volt map light or led light could work too ...

can try that very easily ...

thanks !
