I'm planning on changing the rear brakes from drum to disc ones.
Did anyone try to do it themselves?
So far as long as i know, i need disks, calipers, pads, lines. Am i missing something?
PS: 1995 Impreza Outback 1.8L, manual

The swap is one of the best and easiest mods to do to your car. You do not need to get these from an Impreza only. Early Legacy rear disc will bolt right up as well. Use everything from the knuckle out. One of the advantages with early Leggy brakes is that if you do not have ABS you can find early ones without it. I got mine off of a '92. Actually bought the whole car and parted it out. Made my money back and got the manual trans and rear brakes for my troubles.

ahh for some reason the pics never loaded, yes it is good. Does anyone know which vehicles or part numbers to be looking for as donors?

Great write up! That does pretty much cover all of your bases on that swap..

Omricon,
Get your discs on yet?

Any AWD Legacy/OB 90-99 will have your parts as well as Impreza L w/safety package (95), LX 95-97, or RS 98-01. Make sure that what ever you pull them from runs 15" wheels stock..

The newer '00+ OB, GTs, and WRXs all run 16's, so rear wheel clearance may be an issue with 15"s..

I just got my rear disk on thursday. I plan on doing the drum to disk conversion within the next month. Does anyone know the part number of the long shaft with bolt at the end that connects the lateral link to the hub? Mine are rusted and I can't hammer it out. Looks like I will need to saw it in many places to get it apart.

hahah its not THAT easy. it CAN be one of the biggest PITA. if that long bolt thats about a foot long doesn't come out then your in for a nightmare. if it does come out on both sides though its pretty smooth sailing after that.

i did the rear conversion on my 93 l wagon. be far the best upgrade so far. you are going to need the rear hubs so you can bolt averything up. i use '02 rear hubs and calipers and i also had to get a new parking brake cabels the L ones did now work. after 8 hours with the help of a friend here it is

How's your rear camber with those hubs from an 02? Was it a wagon by any chance or a WRX?

i have a 93 wagon. the hubs came off a wrx. the only think bout mine is that i have 02 wrx rear sway bar with 02 rear lateral links, so my tires are like 1-2 degrees off but other that that everything bolted up without any problems. just remember you will hae to vahnge the parking brake cabel. the one from the L will not fit the wrx hub
