Straight Pipe it?

I have the interest in a 02+. but what first caught my attention to subarus was the 93-95 swrt cars. they sound awesome but realized that the car im looking towards is 1.8 are n/a. the swrt cars had turbos and anti lag. so my question is could i get that sound off a n/a 1.8? or was those old swrt cars even a 1.8 at all? does the anti lag system effect the sound? and is straight piping my answer? im not looking for a afterfire effect. just the sound of those old swrt cars with a na 1.8.

figured that..well idk. Im ether going 1.8 and build it up or 06/07 sti. Im just gonna rallycross and i dont know how much it would cost me to make an 1.8 even as decent as a 06/07. Im leaning towards sti. thanks though

2.2? heres the thing and im making this sound as little of an excuse. I aint mechanically inclined. yet im am willing to learn to get whatever needs be done. Also when i do get it done i take alot longer than most people because i work at a snails pace(blame grandfather). So I prefer when the time comes, to get a newer sti which i already want. its pretty much out of the box rallyx ready and i can add a few things here and there without doing major details. Though i will take care of it by checking fluids brakes etc.. If i was mechanically inclined i would be building the old subaru and the audi quattro s1 group b car. First I need a job that pays.

start small grass hopper....shoot for an n/a car to learn on then go up.

Yes starting small would be best for me, but i have an itch. If i do get the sti first gravel, Ill definatley be cautious. Being reckless is not as much in me since i was a passenger of my buddys toyota 2wd rear ending a 3/4 4x4 ford @ 65mph. Yea not fun, but was blessed to walk away with just stiches. Ill post the pics as soon as i can. Right now for me its just getting through the police academy and getting a job as sherrif. thanks for your advice

my 1.8L sounds pretty beast, it kinda sounded like the swrt cars with my dual straight pipes. but i honestly prefer the 2.5L headers and semistock exhaust over the straights. but thats just me.
