Tax Return time!

OK so I have pretty much narrowed down what i plan on getting suspension wise for my 97 OBS. Im either going to get the tokiko D-Spec or HTS(for us GC people) plus USDM STI springs and use gc8 group N top hats and leggy turbo rear top hats .. part #
R - 20370aa001
L - 20370aa011

OR

Kyb AGX + Ground control 9inch coilover setup with spring rates 225F 200R (no 250# available right now, only custom order) plus group N top hats all around.....

Now this is going ot be for a daily driver that i want to rally x, play around in the desert with and for spirited canyon driving. Car will eventually have some good power with a EJ205 swap later this year. Dspec has more levels of dampening and seems to be a stronger shock from what ive read but if i go that route i sacrifice the + - 1" of ajustability IF i ever need it. AGX are about 450$ shipped plus coilovers are about the same with tax.

Dspec are about 650$ usdm STI springs are like 100$ ... so I will save some money going that route by sacrificing some spring travel and adjustibility.

Group N top hats are I believe around 300 for the set.

So all in all the Dspec route would be about 150$ cheaper

Just looking for some opinion's.... Thanks!

You'll like the D-specs better than the AGX. The D-Specs can be more precisely matched to your spring, resulting in a better ride and better handling.

I ran dspecs and usdm sti springs for my car when it was a daily driver and rallycross car - this was hands down the best set-up I've used for a combo of daily comfort and performance. In fact, I still have that set-up as back-up struts for my rally car.

So the D-Spec's are pretty strong? im looking at ordering part #HTS002 directly from tokico as they are located in So cal, the HTS and D-Spec are supposed to be the same and thats a direct fit for my car.... and USDM STI springs do not lower the car correct? and with switching the front top hats to GC8 ones and the rear to Turbo leggy ones i can pretty much bolt on and call it a day?

just because the d specs are stronger and more adjustable i really haven't come up to anything where i said to my self man if only i had another inch of clearance

Do you know the part number for them? I can do some hunting around.

EDIT: There are no D-specs for the GC chassis. However, you can run GD D-Specs. You'll have a little bit of a problem with camber but it's nothing a set of camber bolts can't fix.

HTS002 .... I looked around alot for what i know, only place i found that can order them is garage tuning, but like i said a 3-4 week backorder.

Thanks, i appriciate it!

No go on the HTS002 either. Even the Hitachi (who owns Tokico) distributor wasn't sure when there might be some available.

Go with the GD D-Specs and camber bolts.

Ive been heavily advised not to use the GD ones due to the camber issues in the rear and that they are not properly valved or setup right for the GC... pluse dont you have to shim the rear or something to make the GD ones fit?

Nope, you just need a set of camber bolts to bring the camber back to something reasonable. They're generic valving to begin with, you're going to be OK on a GC vs GD.

There's actual GC-fitment AGXes. The only negative about the AGXes is only having 4 clicks of adjustment. Otherwise, they're decent dampers.

I know the AGX's are decent , but the Tokico's seem to be far more durable and stronger for dirt use from what about 85% of what people have told me...

So you feel that the GD ones will fit no problem as long as i get a set of camber bolts? and that they should feel just fine? anybody out there using the GD dpecs on a GC? no shimming on the rears to make them fit?

I plan on getting the allwheelsdriven coilovers at the end of this year... maybe picking between dspec and agx really doesnt matter that much...
