But just in case someone was thinking, jeez this Evo guy talks a lot and he doesn't even have a Subaru, I posted a pic on another thread and thought, I should officially introduce myself, and more importantly my cars (http://www.flickr.com/photos/poqua/sets/72157602434763182/):

2003 Mitsubishi Evo 8 - intake, dp, brakes, short shift, poly bushings here and there, Recaro child seat 8) (no wing atm, the CF looks like garbage so I'm gonna get it redone)
1990 VW Corrado G60 - looks stock but has too many mods to list, sounds like a WW2 Spitfire
2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Ltd wagon - custom grille, Rota Tarmac 3s, GReddy EVO2 exhaust, fast as f..k (strictly speaking this is my wife's car )

Been going to rallies since I was in the womb (my Mum spectated on the Kielder stage (I think) of the 1973 RAC Rally (check out the legendary names in those results (http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?type=result&rallyid=387)) - and yes, I suspect that makes me a lot older than most of you) :D I rode home from the hospital in a red Mk1 Escort RS Mexico (like this one (http://www.theescortagency.biz/images/Image035.jpg)).. I saw (and heard) the Group B monsters in person, froze half to death several times waiting for the magic engine sounds to start echoing in the distance, followed by the marshal's whistles getting closer. Plus, I went to school with the daughter of the top British co-driver of the time and my Dad part-owns one of Roger Clark's old car dealerships.. yes, the rally runs deep in me :D

Anyway I ended up on this side of the pond about ten years ago - I bought the Evo on the very first day they were released, sight unseen, have been going to rallycrosses locally since early 2003, and actually participating (reasonably successfully) for about two years.

So... errr.. hi!

Quite the sexy auto collection you have going. If you have any clips of the corrado post 'em up, listening to Merlin-like noises is always a pleasure!

Phil, great to get a bio from ya! Are those rota slipstreams on the EVO in the picture on the driveway?

Welcome to the forums.... officially!

well Phil - you are pretty old but not older then me :D

just some perspective - I was too at a rally in the womb but mine was my mom doing her civil rights thing in 1965 at the 'rally' where Malcom X was shot and killed.. she was one of about 3 white folks in the room when it happened...

anyway - post up some sound bites of the V-dub - sounds like a fun little car..

Let's see..
- Aaron, yes those are Rota Slipstreams (like yours? or are yours P45s?). Gun metal finish I think. Anyway I picked 'em up second hand but NIB last year, finally got some rubber on them a few weeks back so I can save my KDWS tread for the dirt. I'm impressed, they weigh a little less than the stock Enkeis, so now we have Rotas on the LGT too. Filipino rims FTW :)
- Loren - of course nothing sounds quite as good as a Merlin (it is, after all, a 27 litre ~2500hp supercharged V12 (in the later Spitfires anyway)).. but that weird mix of not-very-muffled engine and supercharger drone just brings it to mind :D
- Jack - damn that is a hell of a story!
- Jon, yeah.. the wagon will be out at Laughlin actually, as support vehicle. btw the exhaust was my wife's b'day gift this year, and the wheels were for Mother's Day, after she destroyed the stock rubber (and I mean destroyed). Cobb AP possibly for next b'day :D I don't think it's really a hardcore dirt machine though.. kinda low for that. There's one more space on the driveway.. she wants an STI, but I want a RWD NA fix in the form of a Mk.2 Supra. Anyway for now we compromised and bought a new kitchen (?)
- Jackson Bros: see you on the dirt :D

I'll get some video of the Corrado up somewhere.

Yeah.. my stockers were all bent up so I looked on SoCalEvo and just waited till someone was letting some rims go for cheap. They just happened to be those.. 300 bucks for all four - including lug nuts - and they were just down the road from where I work. Screaming deal, and I think they actually look pretty sharp (and they're round too, unlike the Enkeis). The guy I bought them off is a track junkie, and his apartment was full of wheels, it was classic. Reminded me of the old days, spray-painting my OEM Corrado rims on the kitchen floor in a tiny apt in HB

Oh.. and I didn't say 'old'.. I said 'older' :D
