Hella Amber Fogs Discontinued

was looking to find a set of Hella Amber fogs to replace my abused set and found that they've been discontinued. however, after an email to Wil Sekella over at Susquehanna Motorsports (a.k.a. Rallylights.com) he informed me of a couple alternatives. one of which i went with. Hella now offers a product called Shieldz. they're removable/reusable skins that you adhere to the lenses that tint them in either Yellow, Blue, or Smoke. i got'em along with a shiny new set of Hella 500FF fogs and applied the shieldz. they seem to adhere really well and look much better than the discontinued amber fogs. after i mount'em up, i'll include some pics as well as a follow up review thread after a few months of use.

I've seen that product as well and worry about the heat retention. If the lamp is installed with limited airflow (bugeye), uses and overwattage bulb, or is left on with the car stopped, I have concerns about the film either melting or causing head damage to the unit itself.
