I was driving the Foz, and everything was going fine... then it started missing. So dad and I started taking out spark plugs... pulled the first plug (in two pieces) and it was covered in oil... replaced it, started it, and a brearing is out... it's gone =[

A dead motor is a major bummer. But you guys are looking at it from the wrong angle. It's also an opportunity to put a fire-breathing monster, high-compression, daily-driver, hot-rod motor in there.

Ah, sorry to hear that bro. I had this happen to me a few months ago in my Rs. Except mine went out in a big bang. :headbang:

But like the posts above me, this gives you a chance to put something better in it.
EJ20 possibly? Ooohh

205k. She had a good ten years, don't get me wrong, but I was not ready for her to die...

Don't get me wrong guys, it would love nothing more then to drop an STi motor into it, and make it the craziest sleeper in town... but my family needs money bad, so we have to sell her... it hurts to part.

you may need the money, but how much will you make off the foz? in my opinion, it will be cheaper in the long run to drop in a new block
this could cost around 2K or less, i just spent 3K+ or so with mine, but i did a few extras
buying a new car, means new car payments, more interest for the man, and a big boot in the ass for you
just my opinion

That sucks! You should beable to find a used 2.5 or 2.2 in there for less then 1k... I'm just waiting for my motor to cook so i can put in a 2.5!

Ugh.

So yeah.. +1 on dropping in a cheap replacement if you have the time and inclination (and if you can afford to be without a car for the duration). Would be a fun project and a massive learning experience, especially if you can share the job (maybe with your Dad, since it sounds like he's comfortable with a wrench in his hand). One serious advantage with this is that you'll know exactly what's under the hood, which is a step up from buying something used that you have no idea about.

Or sell it to someone who'll reanimate it. You'll get a better price than junking it.

Or part out, a lot of hassle but again more cash in the end.

Sorry to hear.

Well said. I'd say do as cheap a swap as possible. You can get used blocks for like eleventeen dollars.

Good luck with whatever route you choose.
