So i am planning on moving forward slowly with my project choptop/lifted legacy.
one of the problems is that 2nd gear no longer engages, after i got the car i drove it for 3 months, and one day, completely out of the blue, 2nd gear disappears. no noise, no vibration, just not there. if you pull back on the shifter very hard it grinds, but wont engage, and one day, just for the hell of it, me and 2 others in the car all grabbed on and pulled back and we actually managed to put it in gear, i drove it for a month without 2nd gear before it was finaly parked out in the barn for good.
so my theory is that there are bushing inside the tranny on the linkage that are gone, or just slack built up somewhere else in the linkage. i was also thinking that i could maybe remedy this problem by cutting like 1/2" - 3/4" out of the linkage, and that would remove the slack.
just wanting some imput
