Just wondering what peoples opionions are on the cheap ebay crap.. I have the Cheap Borla header replicas for NA, and I like them...
I will just be using the car for Rally-x, auto-x and eventually plan on getting to some stage rallies....

cheap is just that....cheap. I'd say go with cobb's uppipe or GrimmSpeed is coming out with one soon. get it coated.
headers: imo, unless you want to pay to get them tuned, stay with stock headers. with a turbo, the headers step up is different for NA. grimmspeed makes the PnPnC stock header set up. much faster spool up when I put them on....3-400 rpms quicker.

I agree with Up2Mtns.
Get the parts from GrimmSpeed.
I just sent my box of parts to him this week to get coated.

ANY idea what the inner diameter of the grimspeed PnP manifold is?
And it says 324$ ... is that with or without the 100$ core charge? and thats still not with an uppipe....

does not include core charge.
the ID does not change much except at the intake/outflow areas....except the cross pipe (in that combo package) is wider for sure.
the 'stock' cross pipe option is chepaer (189) which is what I have for now.

well... Being an NA motor I wouldn't have a core to return... Not sure if that would be a problem? I'm kind of hoping someone from grimspeed will see this post...Sue to Price, it is most likely looking like I will probably getting the OBX headers, and ALOT of heat wrapping ;)
Anyone here have experience with these?

i'm a little confused...you have an N/A engine but you are looking for turbo parts??
324 is the whole package with our v2 hiflow crosspipe but without thermal coating. 189 is for the PnP manifolds with Pnp'd stock crosspipe and no coating(239.99 for PnP'd stock manifold and coating)

I'm pretty sure he's wanting to turbo his car now.

in that case..BlackParis, we definitely have cores in stock that we can send to you. You dont need to have a core to return, you just obviously wont get the core fee back.
hit me up on PM or email to sales@grimmspeed.com if you want to order some goodies.

Ok a newb question but this is the only thread that has discussed uppipes. I am looking to replace my up pipe but just looking to find out some info on a couple questions. Am I going to need to retune anything after replacing it? I believe there is a stock sensor but most the uppipes appear not to have a spot for them to go back on. If there is no spot what do i do with the sensor and is there an uppipe with a spot for one? Ok one last question sorry. Should i replace the uppipe now or should i do an exhaust first then worry about the uppipe? I have looked at the grimmspeed one and is so far the one I think i will go with just wanted to get some feedback from you guys on what everyone is running and feedback on what you are using. ok im done now :shootsself:

i got cobbs...it has a choice if u want the EGT bung or not...some say the cat tends to go out and reck your turbo so it wouldnt be a bad idea

thats what i have heard so i want to replace it. Thats cool the cobb one lets you choose, I guess I just dont know if there is an advantage or disadvantage for having the egt bung. guess i will just keep researching and hear from everyone. Thanks for letting me know what you are running. did you notice a power improvement?
I would get one without the bung if I had the choice. I don't see any reason for it at all.
You will need to put a small resistor in the sensor so you don't throw a CEL if you are not using the factory sensor.

The only advantage that i know of regarding having a EGT bung or not... is that you have a EGT bung to measure temps or you don't! LOL
However, i have been told that the correct place to measure EGT temps is in the exhaust manifolds, not the uppipe.
I think you will be happier with exhaust at this point, rather than an uppipe. You really shouldn't be too concerned about your cat killing your turbo. UP is a pain in the ass to replace too.

I finally found a guy locally who specializes in working on Subarus so I would have him do it haha I will tackle the exhaust myself but not touching the UP. I want to do the exhaust it is just the whole financial reality of recently buying a house comes into play. I want to do the exhaust the right way when i do it complete TBE. What kind of resistor would I need. Probably something he would need to put on while he is replacing the UP?

That is for damn sure! I dread the day I change out my up-pipe (which will be here shortly) I did my full TBE with no problems.

TBE is a fricking walkin the park compared to up pipe... youll see...:muhaha:
Don't get me wrong though, its not something to be afraid of, it just is much more involved. Theres lots to remove to get enough space to get in there.

Yep, by the time the exhaust gas gets to that point it's lost a lot of heat and you aren't measuring it accurately for what's actually happening in your motor.
My EGT is tapped on the driver's side in the exhaust manifold, right where it exits the motor.

Well i will see how the next month goes if i can get some more work at my second job i may be able to save up enough for the TBE. but not going to open up that can of worms of asking what everyone is running right now. I will just keep researching on the best setup. to many options to choose from

The best one is a used one.
Seriously, it's under the car...no need for it to be bling.

very true. I am not much for bling plus i live in montana it is winter for like 9 months a year and tons of dirt roads so bling does not work so well here.

just to offer a few beans out of that so called can...I did the aem/dc sport turbo back, up pipe and turbo manifold and A) the up-pipe was indeed the biggest pain in the a$$ as I had to remove the intercooler and turbo and ended up breaking both a turbo stud and the EGT sensor in the process. B) the dc sport catless up pipe does have a bung for the EGT fyi...but from my experience you will just end up going through one EGT sensor after another because of the additional heat from the engine(altho im guessing it might have a bit to do with the new turbo manifold as well???) Ultimately with the catless up pipe, bung or no bung, get the resistor because the EGT sensor is pointless located there and gets old to keep replacing, also be sure to take the time to get rid of those nasty fiber gaskets when messing with anything on the exhaust system and go instead for the metal ones subaru offers. my stock gaskets fell to shreds the minute I did the upgrades and I had to drive around with that annoying ticking sound and feeling half sick from the exhaust leak till I changed the gaskets.
