first off i have an 06 wrx wagon, i have the perrin short shifter adapter (for now), the perrin front shift bushings, and the tic shifter linkage bushing.
when im crusing down the road either in 2nd or 4th it makes a rattle sound when i go over bumps. i thought at first that wasnt tightned all the way when i put the front shifter bushings in but we did. everything shifts fine its just wierd and kind of annoying especially when im off road. any suggestions

From your explanation it sounds more like the shifter is rattling and not the tranny. It's not uncommon to get more feedback and vibration with upgraded bushings for the shifter. If it is actually the tranny rattling then check the tranny mount. The stock one is a flimsy pos that really should be upgraded.

found out what it was the shifter adapter is making the shifter move to far back and its getting tossed around in 2nd and 4th. so now im in the market for a short shifter

You also may want to upgrade to Group N trans/motor mounts. I had a similiar problem and it sounds like the shifter may be rattling against some metal due to a worn out mount.....fixed my problem. (mine was also most noticable off-road and in 2nd gear)

Tranny mount is cake, the motor mounts look like theyre a pain to change out though.

Motor mounts are easy also, just look at the stockers and match the plates/mounts accordingly when you install the new ones. I mixed them up on one side but about 10 min later it was corrected. So overall pretty easy.
