I am currently working on setting my car up for rallycross/DD and I am looking through acouple of rally tires noticing they are around 150-200 a piece. The current tire Im looking at is the BF Goodrich Rally 14/60 R-14 M51
(here is a pic) http://www.subesports.com/products/cat/Tires/brand/BF+Goodrich+Rally/prodID/2205
Any comments on them? Good? Bad? how about how long they last? Im planning on keeping my 15 inch steelie as a DD wheel but still wondering how badly would the road tear them up if I took the subie to the rallyX with the tires already on.
Thanx for any and all help.

Those are good rally tires and how long they will last driving to your RallyX depends on how far away your rallyX is, how fast/aggressively you drive there and how warm the ambient temps are when you are driving there. All of those factors put heat into the tires which will start to soften them up and accelerate teh wear.

What kind of car are you fitting 14" wheels on for rallyX?

i cant comment on the tires youre looking at, but as far as driving to the rallyx... you probably havent considered tire noise.

the rally tires i have (hankook r201) are really loud on the street. loudest tire ive ever heard. driving there on your street wheels/tires and putting on the rally wheels/tires when you get to the event will add to the longevity of the rally tires and afford you a way to get home if you have a tire failure on course.

My steelies are not going to have a rally tire on them. They will have a street tire so no worries. i wanted to find a harder material tire just to keep it lasting abit longer which is a good thing but as far as tire noise and road wear, the rally Xs dont seem to be any closer than 2 hours away :(

this is the car that will have the 14s. A shop is selling a set of 14s for 150 which is cheap and not have shipping because i can drive there. Im kinda ona budget here but tires is something im willing to pay the extra for

Look at the Cooper Weathermaster tire. I have heard really good things about its use off road. Also I hear you get about 30K of thread life.

yeah, if you want to drive to and from events on the same tires there are winter tires that will do the job for you and most likely give you 95% of the performance in rallyX settings of a gravel tire.

imma see if they make them in 14s, I would like to get a real rally rim, but that will only happen if i get so lucky as to find a used one I think immma try the cooper first

Well the house is being sold definately so i should have maybe 1,000 or so extra money if im lucky. Ive heard watch out for steelies on rally tires which is not my plans at all, but wat about something that isnt a rally wheel? my plan is to spend his money and basicilly tires and wheels alone. thanx for the help again

i wouldnt have a clue when it comes to wheel and tire combos,
all i can tell you is to stay away from steelies if your planning on driving your car hard.

Lol i normally use my steelies for DD, but I sold my wrx wheels which I used for off roading. The tires were too large for my current mudflaps so Thats why Im going to 14s the 15s With the current tires rub on left hand turns but the wheels i want are not steelies
