My car title says my GC8 is a version 4. How does one tell the difference b/w versions 3 or 4? Thanks!

This information is pretty good STi versions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza_WRX_STI#Version_IV_.2809.2F97_.E2.8 0.93_08.2F98.29_-_GC8E)

give us your vin.
v4 sti is 20k, red manifold, probably a 16g or vf22(23), usually dccd if its a regular sti(not RA/R I mean)

Its a JDM...vin # is gc8-048288
My title and registration says GC8E meaning it's a version 4 but it a CF instrument cluster but should be white. Not that it means anything but my Nardi steering wheel has the STi logo with CF. Has the red manifold of course.
What do you think guys?

Version numbers go by production years. Are you trying to ask what trim your car is?

yep....internet sources don't really say much about the differences b/w the 2. Although the title says GC8-E, the CF instrument panel confuses the picture as it should be white. Not sure if mine was aftermarket. BTW, I remember you from the IWSTI intl forum. You were stationed at Spang, correct?

If that's the only thing that's confusing the trim my guess would be that it's a modification.
Yep, that's me. I was stationed at Einsedlerhof, right across the autobahn from Ramstein.

DCCD is only on GC8 STi RA's, just like roof scoop and quick steering.
Version 4 STi should have VF23, V4 WRX would have VF22.
Put more info/pics about yourself and your car.
If you are here in Japan (my guess), keep in mind that most cars here are not stock, especially ones that are 10+ years old.

Sorry, but the Type R Sti also has DCCD.
