What happens when you crank it? Does it stutter and stall? Or just turn over and not fire?

hey this same thing happened to me the other day, I have a 1998 OBS ....here is what happened.
the E brake light and battery light has been on the whole time I have had the car which is about a month. I thought there was a short in the dash as the light for the brake would be on even though the brake was down, and it would come and go while driving.
all of a sudden the car starts running like its about out of gas, though it has half a tank. Lights go out and stuff starts blinking and going crazy all over. When you step on the gas the engine wants to die, and there is no power. It smells like gas, and exaust it rich with something.
Turns out it was a alternator wiring issue, seems it de charged the battery to such a low level that the car had no power to manage the ecu, which could not power the fuel pump or injectors or anything on the car. Which made it run rich and no power. Basically we just played with the wiring and now it runs fine, I will have to replace it this winter as it seems there is a short. Also the brake light is now off and the battery light as well.....
Maybe try that or get the batt/alt checked?

thread moved.
Does it even try to turn over when you start it? Or does it even do anything.

Smelling petrol? When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?
